The story of FOPE jewellery began back back to 1919 when talented goldsmith and businessman Umberto Cazzola opened his very first goldsmith’s workshop in Vicenza, Italy. The small workshop started with around 20 employees and specialised in making watchstraps from gold and other precious metals. Eventually, Umberto Cazzola decided that it was time to pass on the company to his son, Odino, who shared the same innovative and pioneering approach to his father. In 1950, just after the Second World War had ended, the workshop was converted into a state-of-the-art factory and the business invested in several modern technologies that allowed new, ground-breaking designs to appear like flexible metal straps.
Fast forward several years and in 1970, Odino’s two children Umberto and Ines joined the business. They continued to invest in advanced technologies and for the first time, launched a FOPE jewellery collection. The line was characterised by a special mesh chain nicknamed the Novecento. It was incredibly flexible and yet was handcrafted entirely from 18 carat gold. It is the Novecento chain that continues to inspire much of the FOPE Flex’it jewellery collections today including the slim and stackable FOPE Prima jewellery line.
As the slimmest and lightest of all FOPE jewellery pieces, the FOPE Flex’it Prima jewellery collection is perfect for anyone starting their journey in fine jewellery, offering slender necklaces, bracelets, rings and earrings with entirely flexible chains and adorned with diamonds. The beauty of the series comes from its versatility, with each design looking just as beautiful on its own as it does stacked and layered together with matching pieces.
Some of our personal favourites include the FOPE Flex’it Prima bracelets which boast the patented mesh chain which is rendered fully flexible thanks to tiny gold springs hidden between each link. The chains are available in yellow gold, white gold and rose gold and often showcase a selection of rondels for decoration, crafted from matching or opposing gold and adorned with selections of white or black diamonds. The FOPE Flex’it Prima rings are as equally stunning, and since they are entirely flexible and stretchy, you don’t have to worry about sourcing yours or a loved one’s ring size.
