The Clogau Platinum Jubilee Jewellery Collection

Jewellery & Watch News

Clogau joins the rest of the country in celebration of Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee with the launch of the Clogau Platinum Jubilee jewellery collection. Taking inspiration from the stunning ‘Superbloom’ display planted within the moat of the Tower of London, the series of pendants, bracelets and earrings showcases breathtaking gemstones like blue topaz, aventurine, garnet, and amethyst.

Having ascended to the throne in 1952, we have enjoyed Queen Elizabeth II as Head of State for exactly 70 years and as such, she has broken the records of all monarchs before her including the previous record of 64 years held by her great-great grandmother Queen Victoria. As part of the celebrations of her Platinum Jubilee, the Tower of London moat has been planted with a new garden display called the ‘Superbloom’. Over 20 million carefully selected seeds have been chosen and sowed into the moat with the intention of creating a vibrant sea of flowers which will continue to evolve and change from June to September. The space will offer a new natural landscape in the heart of London, welcoming new habitats for wildlife and pollinators for insects and seed-eating birds. For the first time, the space will be open to visitors every day allowing you to visit and explore the spectacle of colours close up.

Taking inspiration from the colours that are expected to appear in the Superbloom display, Clogau has launched a colourful range of Clogau Platinum Jubilee jewellery featuring the likes of blue topaz, aventurine, garnet, and amethyst at their centre. Each necklace, bracelet and earring follows the same design principle, offering a gorgeous oval-shaped halo pendant crafted from sterling silver with a gemstone at the centre. The stone is then surrounded by dazzling white topaz for a sparkle similar to that of diamonds. Hanging from the oval pendant is a gorgeous four-leaf flower set with further white topaz and Welsh gold, the material known for making Clogau one of the most revered jewellery names in the country. At the end of each Clogau Platinum Jubilee jewellery piece is a single pearl for a touch of royal refinement.

With a long standing history with the British Royal family, it makes perfect sense for Clogau to honour the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee with a special jewellery collection. Since 1911, when Prince Edward was appointed Prince of Wales, Welsh Gold has been used widely by the Royal family. The regalia used as Prince Edward’s received his title, which included a coronet, ring, rod, and a sword, were all crafted from Welsh gold. In 1923, the material was also used to create the wedding ring of Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother. More recently, Welsh Gold was used for the wedding rings of Her Majesty the Queen herself, Prince Charles, Princess Anne, and Prince William.
