Colourful watch dials are in and Citizen arrives just in time for summer 2023 with its own take on the trend with the launch of the new Citizen Tsutoysa watch collection. Dressed in displays of blue, green, black or yellow, the integrated sports watch is not only attractive on the wrist but attractive to your budget.
The Case
There’s so much to love about the new Citizen Tsuyosa Automatic watches; whether it’s the bright and brilliant dial colours, the incredibly affordably price point or the sporty integrated architecture of the stainless steel cases. The latter is certainly up there as one of its most defining features, offering a sturdy tonneau-shaped case measuring to an accessible 40mm wide and only 11.7mm height. The height allows each Citizen Tsuyosa watch to effortlessly slide beneath the cuff of a shirt making it just as worthy for the “dress watch” genre as the “sports watch” genre.
The stainless steel case of the Citizen Tsuyosa Automatic is largely brushed other than the fixed bezel which is brightly polished. It presents a neat screw in crown at 4 o’clock and an exhibition sapphire crystal glass back which together ensures a water resistant of 50 metres. Sapphire crystal glass is also utilised on the front side of the case, providing scratch resistance and legibility to the dials thanks to additional anti-reflective coating. The glass on the front also incorporates an additional magnifier over the 3 o’clock position for an enlarged view of the date complication beneath.
The Dials
Of course for many, the draw of the Citizen Tsuyosa Automatic watch collection will be the brilliant array of colours available on the dial. For lovers of more classic integrated sports watches, you have reference NJ0150-56E with a black dial and reference NJ0150-56L with a gorgeous dark blue dial. Then for those that want a bit more colour, you have reference NJ0150-56X with a forest green centrepiece, reference NJ0150-56Z with a dazzling yellow dial and reference NJ0151-53M finished in an elegant pastel blue. Each of the dials are sunray brushed and set with applied markers and hands adorned in luminous material.
The Movement
Powering the Citizen Tsuyosa watches is the in-house, automatic winding Calibre 8210. It’s a familiar movement from Citizen as it powers many of their other entry-level time-and-date models. It runs at a frequency of 21,600vph and comes with 21 jewels and a standard power reserve of approximately 40 hours. As previously mentioned, you can see the movement through the exhibition case back and admire its gold-coloured construction.
The Bracelet
Finally, completing the aesthetic a modern-day sports watch, the Citizen Tsuyosa Automatic watches fasten to the wrist by an integrated stainless steel bracelet. The bracelet itself has polished central links and brushed outer links, adding to the fusion of the sport and dress genres, and is completed by a standard folding buckle for effortless wear and security.
