Jewellery & Watch News

Fitness fanatics everywhere will agree that smartwatches are a must-have accessory, telling more than just the time but providing valuable details about your health, fitness and wellbeing. One brand that has mastered the concept of a sports smartwatch is TAG Heuer. The TAG Heuer Connected collection remains the world’s first luxury smartwatch engineered entirely in Switzerland, presenting the brand’s iconic Carrera case with Google and Intel technology inside. Today, especially for those searching for the ultimate fitness tracker, we will be looking at the TAG Heuer Connected Sports app, and detailing exactly how do use it and what it can do…
How to use the TAG Heuer Connected Sports App
The time has come and you’re about to embark on your first fitness adventure with the TAG Heuer Connected but you’re not sure how to use its Sports App. Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered. First things first, you’ll want to press the top pusher on the right hand side of the case to open the Sports application. Here, you’ll see an impressive list of activities for you to choose from. These include running, swimming, walking, cycling and golf. To select which sport you’ll be performing, either tap on the touchscreen with your finger or using the crown to scroll through the options and press the top pusher to confirm. For running, cycling and walking, your TAG Heuer Connected watch will then need a moment to find a GPS signal. Once this is done, a large “Go” sign will appear in the middle of the display and a countdown will begin for you to get ready!
During an activity, you can pause, stop and restart at any time. To do this, simply press the top pusher to pause. To restart, press the top pusher again or to cancel, press the bottom pusher. When you’ve finished, you can view all the data through the TAG Heuer Connected app including your heart rate, distance, calories burned, ascent elevation, pace and much more. You can also synchronise your sports session to third party applications like Apple Health and Strava for complete synchronicity across all your fitness apps.
The Running App
For runners, the TAG Heuer Connected gives you easy access to their Running app which allows you to track and monitor both indoor and outdoor runs. At a glance, you can see your heart rate, the total distance ran, calories burned and more. You can also monitor your heart rate zone and the percentage of your maximum heart rate on the screen as go. The heart rate zones comprise of 5 different levels which start from a warm-up stage and peak at zone 5. This allows you to monitor your training, speeding up when you want to push yourself and slowing when it’s time to cool down. After your workout, the Sports App on the TAG Heuer Connected watch gives you a full post-run analysis and a colour coded heart rate graph to show you how long you spent in each heart rate zone.
The Swimming App
The TAG Heuer Connected Swimming app is one of the latest additions to the TAG Heuer Sports module. On starting the app, the touchscreen becomes disabled so water cannot accidently manipulate the display and you can select the size of the pool for accurate tracking. It automatically detects your laps by using the smartwatch’s accelerometer and gyroscope and can even detect the type of stroke you use per lap. The four different strokes it can identity are freestyle, breaststroke, backstroke and butterfly. One of its most sophisticated pieces of data is the SWOLF score, a score that measures your swimming efficiency calculated by adding the time (in seconds) to the stroke count, for a given distance. The lower your SWOLF score the better your pool session.
The Golf App
For men and women of the green, the TAG Heuer Connected Golf app is going to be a must-have. After selecting Golf from the list of activities in the Sports app, you can choose from over 40,000 different courses around the world or search for courses nearby for effortless set up. As you work your way across the green, you can enter your score into your TAG Heuer Connected watch to keep track. To do this, you simply tap on the score area and enter the correct score. At the end of the game, you can review your final score and compare them with friends on the TAG Heuer Connected smartphone app. You can also enjoy 3D mapping technology, in-depth statistical analysis, shot tracking and driving zone features.
