Jewellery & Watch News
Taking inspiration from the sky, the home of aviation, Bell & Ross has launched a new edition of their BR 05 GMT watch with a stunning light blue dial. The Bell & Ross BR 05 GMT Sky Blue watch celebrates a coming-together of the exploration and aviation with its sunray finished sky blue display, a bright red GMT hand and a distinctively urban stainless steel architecture.
Since its launch in 2019, the Bell & Ross BR 05 has become the brand’s archetype of a luxury sports watch. With its square-shaped case, integrated bracelets and sporty dials, the BR 05 has been launched in several variations over the past five years; we’ve seen classic three-hand designs, skeletonised models, chronographs, and diamond-accented pieces. Then two years ago, the Swiss watchmaker targeted globetrotters with the first BR 05 GMT watch for reading a second time zone on the dial. The inaugural design boasted a black dial with a bright red GMT hand, which was shortly followed by a second model with a bright white dial. Now joining these is the new Bell & Ross BR 05 GMT Sky Blue watch which swaps out the previous colourless displays for one of stunning pastel blue.
The dial of the Bell & Ross BR 05 GMT Sky Blue watch is beautifully executed, decorated in sunray-brushed light blue hue that perfectly embodies the colour of the sky and the spirit of aviation. The 24-hour graduated inner bezel to display the time at the wearer’s country of origin is also adorned in blue for the night hours and silver for the day hours. A large red-coloured, arrow-tipped GMT hand extends out from the centre to reach the 24 hour scale, working alongside three slender hands for the hours, minutes and seconds. The hours, minutes and GMT hands and combination of baton markers and Arabic numerals are coated in glow in the dark Superluminova for readability in all lighting conditions. A date window is also included at 3 o’clock.
The rest of the Bell & Ross BR 05 GMT Sky Blue watch honours the specifications of its predecessors. We’re promised a solid stainless steel construction which includes an integrated bracelet with folding buckle, integrated lugs, signature mounting screws, brushed surfaces and polished edges. The case is the perfect mid-size watch with a 41 millimetre diameter and 11.1 millimetre height and is paired with sapphire crystal glass with anti-reflective treatment, a screw down crown with crown guards and a water resistance rating of 100 metres. While attractive on the integrated stainless steel bracelet, the Bell & Ross BR 05 GMT Sky Blue watch can also be ordered on a comfortable light blue rubber band with a pin buckle.
The movement responsible for powering the Bell & Ross BR 05 GMT Sky Blue watch is the BR-CAL.325 calibre, an automatic winding movement based on the Sellita SW-330. It promises a 42 hour power reserve, 25 jewels and a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour. Fuelling the power reserve is a 360-degree oscillating rotor which can be seen through the exhibition case back.
