Oris Aquis Date Calibre 400 Watch
If you’re shopping for someone this Christmas with a love of fine watch manufacture, then cast your eyes upon this Oris Aquis Date Calibre 400 watch. Launched only this year, the Calibre 400 movement marks Oris’ latest in-house automatic movement with a 5 day power reserve, 10 year warranty and built with incredible anti-magnetic properties. The movement also claims an accuracy of 3/+5 seconds per day, a rating well within COSC requirements. Protecting the in-house Swiss made calibre is a 41.5mm stainless steel case equipped with a unidirectional black ceramic insert bezel, sapphire crystal glass, a screw in crown and an exhibition glass back. To match the bezel, the dial is finished in a gorgeous sunray finished anthracite colour and is treated with bold luminous markers on the hands and indexes. This luminosity alongside it’s 300 metre water resistance makes this Oris Aquis Date Calibre 400 watch an unbeatable tool for water-based adventures.
Oris Divers Sixty-Five Watch
While the Oris Aquis above is resolutely contemporary, the Oris Divers Sixty Five collection is anything but. The wonderful retro-inspired aesthetics take inspiration from a historic Oris watch from fifty years ago making it an excellent Christmas gift idea for someone with a love of vintage watches. For this particular Oris Sixty Five watch, large bubble curved sapphire crystal glass offers unmissable legibility of a unique burnt orange dial detailed with retro-shaped hour markers and sword-shaped hands both of which are coated in Superluminova and engineered from rose gold. Continuing with its 1960’s design codes, the case and bracelet of the watch is engineered from dual-toned metals including stainless steel and rose gold. Stainless steel makes up the bulk of the 40mm case while the black ceramic insert bezel is outlined in rose gold to match the juxtaposing links on the bracelet. As with all Oris watches, the Oris Divers Sixty Five watch is equipped with an automatic winding movement this time promising a 38 hour power reserve.
Oris Big Crown Pointer Date Watch
Another beautifully vintage timepiece is this Oris Big Crown Pointer Date watch, a design which goes even further back into the Swiss watch manufacturer’s archives and takes inspiration from a 1930’s Oris pilots watch. Oris are no strangers to the world of aviation, and it is shown through the unique coin-edged bezel and large screw in crown of this watch, two features designed to be easily gripped even while wearing thick pilots gloves. The bezel is finished in stainless steel, just like the rest of the case which sits on the wrist at 40mm alongside a distressed brown leather strap. To match its warm rustic aesthetic, the dial is painted in a gorgeous burgundy red colour and decorated with retro Arabic numerals and luminous hands for the hours and minutes. Also at the centre is Oris’ famous pointer date complication which extends out from the centre of the dial and indicates the date detailed around the circumference. This function is powered by the Oris 754 automatic movement with a power reserve of 38 hours.
Oris Big Crown ProPilot Bronze Watch
One material Oris has had heaps of success with is bronze and for the first time they have executed their popular Big Crown ProPilot watch in the stunning patina-developing material. The addition of bronze to the Oris Big Crown ProPilot has completely renovated its persona, transforming it from a sporty-looking tool watch in steel to a vintage-inspired pilots watch in bronze. What makes bronze truly unique however is its patina which develops over time, darkening the material and allowing each case to tell the unique story of its own wearer. If that’s not enough to tempt you into it for Christmas, the 41mm case also boasts a 100 metre water resistant rating, solid Superluminova hardware on a matte black dial and the Oris 751 automatic winding calibre. Securing the Oris Big Crown ProPilot Bronze watch to the wrist is a versatile green Ventile® strap completed with a bronze ‘lift’ clasp inspired by the mechanisms of passenger aircraft seatbelt buckles.
Oris Aquis Date Upcycle Watch
Last but not least, we have the perfect Oris watch for lovers of rare timepieces. The Oris Aquis Date Upcycle is one of many designs launched by the Swiss watch brand to mark their dedication to ocean conservation, it is the only one however adorned with a unique dial engineered entirely from PET recycled plastic. The dial is truly mesmerising and comes in an array of colours completely bespoke to the PET plastic used at the time set with Superluminova hands for hours, minutes and seconds and a date window at 6 o’clock. The case of the Oris Aquis Date Upcycle watch measures to 41.5mm and features a grey ceramic insert unidirectional bezel, a sapphire crystal front, 300 metre water resistance and a chunky three-row link stainless steel bracelet. The trusted Oris 733 automatic winding movement is housed within and put on display through the mineral glass back where the iconic red oscillating rotor spins with every movement of the wrist.
