Last year, Swiss watch manufacturer Oris aimed to brighten up a pandemic-orientated world with a series of bronzed-cased and pastel-dialled watches. Suitably named the Sixty Five Divers Cotton Candy collection, the set of unisex designs was an unexpected take on their retro diver’s instrument but one that was gladly accepted by collectors everywhere. Now in expansion of the line, Oris launch another trio of Oris Sixty Five Divers Cotton Candy watches, these ones substituting their solid bronze bracelets for more casual looking perlon straps.
Like before, the new Oris Sixty Five Divers Cotton Candy watches come in a choice of three dial colours: lipstick pink, sky blue or wild green. Contrasting to the spring-inspired shades is then case-coordinating hands and indexes in bronze with glow in the dark Superluminova inserts. The dials also present a square shaped date window at 6 o’clock, a white printed minutes scale and the Oris logo at 12 o’clock. Powering the hours, minutes, seconds and date functions is the well-known Oris 733 automatic winding movement which also guarantees 26 jewels, a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour and a healthy power reserve of 38 hours.
The new Oris Sixty Five Divers Cotton Candy watches continue to mimic those of last year with 38 millimetre bronze cases. Oris have used bronze in several of their luxury watch releases over the years, but it never gets tiring. Bronze is a truly unique material, leaving behind its own patina when exposed to moisture in the air and pH levels in perspiration. This means that each case of the Oris Sixty Five Divers Cotton Candy watch will darken over time and become completely unique to its wearer.
Bronze is utilised across the entirety of the case, including the lugs, crown and bezel, leaving only the case back in stainless steel for hypoallergenic reasons. The crown is screw down as is the case back while the bezel is unidirectional and adorned with a 60 minute scale in relief. The Oris Sixty Five Divers Cotton Candy watches are also water resistant to 100 meters. Completing them is the addition of the new perlon straps. This material feels significantly more suited to the summer months and comes in a choice of pink, blue or green to match their dial colour. The straps close by matching bronze pin buckles.
