A classic watch in black and steel, the new Oris Divers Sixty Five 12H Calibre 400 marks the first time the Swiss watch manufacturer have instilled the in-house Calibre 400 into their vintage diver’s family as a non-limited edition. Offering everything a globetrotting, retro watch lover could want, let us introduce you to the Oris Divers Sixty Five 12H Calibre 400 watch…
The Oris Divers Sixty Five watch collection is a personal favourite of ours here at C W Sellors. The designs celebrate the reincarnation of a historic Oris timepiece from the 1960’s – hence the collection’s name – bringing back to life bubble curved sapphire crystal glass, retro shaped markers and vintage-inspired straps. Over the years, the collection has welcomed some of the brand’s best-selling pieces including the legendary Oris Carl Brashear trilogy, the latest of which was a special limited edition debuting the Oris Calibre 401 movement. Now offering the movement series and the retro design to a wider audience, Oris launch their first permanent Divers Sixty Five watch with the Calibre 400 movement as part of their Geneva Watch Days 2022 releases.
The Oris Divers Sixty Five 12H Calibre 400 watch provides us with many of the distinguishing traits of the Divers Sixty Five series including tapering lugs, a screw in pill box crown, double domed sapphire crystal glass and a bi-directional rotating bezel. Another first for the model however, aside from the introduction of the Calibre 400 movement, is a 12-hour bezel for reading off a second time zone. The bezel is bi-directional, engineered from steel and topped by a timeless black aluminium insert. Other features of the case include a sapphire crystal glass case back and a water resistant rating of 100 metres.
For the dial of the Oris Divers Sixty Five 12H Calibre 400 watch, the luxury brand have elected for a classic monochromatic palette with a matte black backdrop and silver hardware for the hours, minutes, seconds and date. The applied hour markers are decisively retro in their roundness and like the sword-shaped hour and minute hands and lollipop seconds hand are paired with glow in the dark white Superluminova inserts. The dial also presents a shield-shaped hour marker at the 12 o’clock position, mirroring that of the Oris logo, and a rectangle date window on the opposing end at 6 o’clock.
The Oris Calibre 400 movement has been a hot topic ever since it was launched two years ago, impressing luxury watch aficionados with its extensive list of feats. Alongside a whopping 5 day power reserve, the movement boasts more than 30 anti-magnetic components including a silicon escapement, surpassing all that asked by the ISO 764 anti-magnetic standard. It also comes with 24 jewels, a frequency of 28,800vph and a 10-year warranty. You can admire the movement through the back of the Oris Divers Sixty Five 12H Calibre 400 watch.
Finally, the Oris Divers Sixty Five 12H Calibre 400 watch is joined by a choice of two straps. The first is the cliché vintage-looking calfskin leather strap in black adorned with contrasting cream stitching and a stainless steel pin buckle. The second strap option is a durable three-row link stainless steel bracelet with brushed middle links and a folding clasp to close.
