Jewellery & Watch News

Swiss watch manufacturer TAG Heuer adds a twist to their popular Aquaracer Professional 300 series with the inclusion of a GMT hand. Perfect for avid globetrotters, the TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 300 GMT watch allows you to read off a second time zone and keep track of day and night with a gorgeous two-toned bezel.
The Case
Back in 2021, when the revamped Aquaracer Professional 300 series was originally launched, the legendary diver’s watch welcomed us to a selection of new improvements including shorter lugs, a quiet rotating bezel, wider hands on the dial and octagonal hour markers. These very same improvements are all present on the new TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 300 GMT watch including short, tapering lugs which allow the 43mm stainless steel case to sit flush with your wrist. The case opts for alternating brushed and polished surfaces and a guarded screw in crown at 3 o’clock to assist in its solid 300 metre water resistant rating. There’s also domed sapphire crystal glass and a screw down case back engraved with the image of a scaphander.
Also evident on the TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 300 GMT watch is its quiet, 12-sided bezel. A notable detour from the classic diver’s design however is the replacement of the 60 minute diving scale. Instead, we’re offered a 12 hour scale which pairs with the bi-directional rotating functionality – rather than unidirectional – for reading a second time zone. The bezel is also crafted from ceramic and two-toned in blue and white, the former marking night-time hours and the latter the daytime. TAG Heuer have also cleverly ensured the numerals on the 12 hour bezel contrast to the colour of the ceramic; even where the numerals sit upon the boundary at the 3 and 9 o’clock positions, their colour changes with the backdrop.
The Dial
Pairing with the nautical blue and white palette of the bezel, the dial of the TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 300 GMT watch nominates a gorgeous deep blue backdrop with the familiar sunray brushed finishing and horizontal grooved pattern. The majority of the hour markers remain octagonal in shape with the key 12, 3 and 9 positions marked by larger trapezoid indexes. At 6 o’clock, the marker is replaced by a magnified date window. The hour markers and the sword-shaped hands for the hours and minutes are all adorned with glow in the dark Superluminova. The tips of the seconds and GMT hand offer the same and in contrast to the rest of display, are coloured in bright yellow.
The Movement
Housed within the TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 300 GMT watch is TAG Heuer’s go-to Calibre 7 automatic winding movement. It takes its base from the Sellita SW330 and fuels the hours, minutes, seconds, GMT and date complication. We’re also promised a 50 hour power reserve and a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour. As mentioned, the Swiss made movement is kept from view by the closed screw down case back.
The Strap
The TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 300 GMT watch is available to purchase on two straps: a dive-worthy blue rubber strap or a three-row link brushed stainless steel bracelet. Both straps are fitted with a folding buckle which features an innovative micro adjustment system. This means you can make tiny adjustments to the strap on the go, making it easy to secure the watch to your wrist, then over your wetsuit and back again.
