Jewellery & Watch News
Since its launch in 2020, the Czapek Antarctique watch collection has launched the youthful Swiss watch manufacturer into the global limelight, appealing to fans of luxury integrated sports watches with its own statement integrated architecture. In just two years, there’s been an impressive selection of designs to choose from; multiple coloured displays and stainless steel cases of 40.5mm or 38.5mm. Now for 2023, forming part of their expansive Watches & Wonders showcase, the brand unveils a new iteration in titanium. Meet the elegant new Czapek Antarctique Titanium Dark Sector watch…
The new Czapek Antarctique Titanium Dark Sector watch offers much of the same personality as its predecessors. There’s the popular barrel-shaped case with integrated lugs and an integrated bracelet but this time it is engineered entirely from grade 5 titanium. This material offers several additional benefits; it is more durable and significantly lighter on the wrist than steel weighing in at just 96 grams. The metal is also darker in appearance giving it a more contemporary, urban look. The case measures to the same dimensions of 40.5mm in diameter and 10.6mm in height with a sloped polished bezel, box-shaped sapphire crystal glass with anti-reflective treatment and a water resistant rating of 120 metres.
Pairing with its new darkened case, the Czapek Antarctique Titanium Dark Sector watch elects a dark grey anthracite dial. The dial has a velouté finish and features two unique rows of silvered arched parallel segments which separate to mark the hours. It’s a really handsome detail and pairs with two matching silvered sword-shaped hands for the hours and minutes set with Superluminova and a red-tipped seconds hand with an extra long counterweight. The minutes track is printed around the dial’s circumference in white and a dot at 12 o’clock pairs with the seconds hand in red.
Powering the Czapek Antarctique Titanium Dark Sector watch is the automatic winding Calibre SHX5 movement. It’s the very same in-house movement that has been used before in previous Czapek Antarctique watches and offers a 60 hour power reserve, a frequency of 28,800vph and hours, minutes and seconds function. The calibre showcases elaborate decoration, which can be admired through the watch’s case back, including sandblasted black bridges with hand-chamfered angles and straight-grained flanks and a black-polished steel central bridge.
Completing the Czapek Antarctique Titanium Dark Sector watch is an integrated titanium bracelet with C-shaped middle links and a “easy-release” interchangeability system for swapping the bracelet over to another. The folding buckle also boasts a micro-adjustment system for obtaining the perfect fit around the wrist.
