For when your life needs a bit of colour, Swiss watchmaker Zodiac arrives with a brightly coloured addition of their Super Sea Wolf watch, and one which makes history as their first skeletonised design. The openwork display debuts the all-new Swiss-made STP 6-15 skeletonized automatic movement surrounded by a bright, rainbow ombre bezel. “Colour has always been a pillar of the Zodiac design,” notes Zodiac creative director, Ryan White. “The Super Chroma bezel was our most daring use of colour to date and a nod to our rebellious roots.”
Starting with the case, the new Zodiac Super Sea Wolf Skeleton 6-15 watch offers much of the same utility that went into the original Sea Wolf design from 1953 but is joined by some contemporary innovations for the modern maverick. Engineered from 316L stainless steel, the case measures to 40mm in diameter and has beautiful brushed and polished finishing, the iconic 5-link Jubilee stainless steel bracelet and a 200 metre water resistance. Noticeably new to the case is the bezel, now set with a unique Super Chroma K1 crystal insert for a dramatic and colourful ombre rainbow effect. The bezel is still unidirectional with minute ratcheted detailing for easy manipulation but swaps out the typical 60 minute divers scale for a single 30 numeral, a yellow triangle marker and a black printed 15 minute track.
Another obvious addition to the Zodiac Super Sea Wolf Skeleton Rainbow watch is the dial. This is the first time Zodiac’s Super Sea Wolf model has been presented with a skeletonised display, as it cleverly reveals their new STP 6-15 skeletonized automatic movement from the centre. The dial is as equally colourful as the bezel, set with a large yellow hour hand and two silvered hands for the minutes and seconds, all generously adorned in glow in the dark Superluminova. Extending out from the skeletonised movement is a blue ring and a thick monochromatic minutes track that matches with the round and oblong hour markers that are printed on the sapphire crystal glass above.
As mentioned, powering the Zodiac Super Sea Wolf Skeleton 6-15 watch is the new STP 6-15 skeletonized automatic movement. It ensures smooth running of the hours, minutes and seconds hand and delivers 23 jewels and a frequency of 28,800vph. You can enjoy the movement through the watch’s exhibition case back including a bold blue oscillating rotor. The sapphire crystal glass itself is also surrounded by its own rainbow ombre border.
