The third and final C W Sellors Frederique Constant exclusive watch, the new Frederique Constant Classics Worldtimer Manufacture Globetrotter Blackout Edition see’s the Swiss watch manufacturer’s iconic Globetrotter watch kitted out in black PVD. The limited edition of 300 pieces also showcases a manufacture movement and a matching black dial which for the first time displays the 24 reference cities’ airport codes.
In celebration of the 10-year anniversary of their Worldtimer watch, Frederique Constant have launched an incredible series of timeless designs, each reinterpreting the manufacture complication in a different way. Alongside a duo of blue-dialled limited editions, one in steel and another in gold, there has been three special editions that C W Sellors has been the proud, UK exclusive stockist of. The first to arrive was the Frederique Constant Worldtime Native Edition, a limited design of 100 pieces which for the first time revealed the 24 cities on the dial in 9 different languages: English, Arabic, Urdu, Bengali, Thai, Chinese, Japanese, Spanish and Brazilian. The second C W Sellors exclusive was the Frederique Constant Worldtimer Vintage Highlife watch which spun the iconic model with a vintage twist, mounting it on a brown ostrich leather strap and adding the very same dial found on the original 2012 model.
For the last C W Sellors UK exclusive of the 10th anniversary year, we’re excited to reveal to you the Frederique Constant Classics Worldtimer Manufacture Globetrotter Blackout Edition. To mark the occasion and in support of Black November, the design is presented with a full black PVD titanium coated stainless steel case and a matching black dial. The latter also no longer reveals the traditional 24 reference cities but instead the cities’ airport codes.
Like before, the limited edition Frederique Constant Classics Worldtimer Manufacture Globetrotter Blackout watch elects a 42mm diameter case but one sandblasted and engineered from black PVD stainless steel. The same scratch resistant sapphire crystal glass is placed above on the fixed bezel and matches with the opposite side, the engraved and see-through threaded case back. At 3 o’clock, the knurled, 50 metre water resistant crown enables you to control all the features on the dial including the hours, minutes, date and worldtimer function. The ingenious three notch system lets you wind the watch in the first position, adjust the date and reference city in the second position and the central time display in the third.
Matching the monochromatic case of the Frederique Constant Classics Worldtimer Manufacture Globetrotter Blackout Edition watch is a black dial. As always, the planisphere is represented in relief, the oceans highlighted by sunray finishing and an elegant sunray guilloche subsidiary dial at 6 o’clock for displaying the date. The only features on the dial with any real contrast are the white airport codes on the city disc, the day indication on the 24 hour disc and the applied rounded indexes. The hour and minute hands are also filled with luminous treatment so readability in low lighting is never an issue.
The movement responsible for the intricate array of functions on the dial is the manufacture FC-718 automatic winding movement. Alongside a 38 hour power reserve, 26 jewels and a frequency of 28,800vph, the in-house calibre promises stunning perlage and circular Côtes de Genève decoration visible through the exhibition case back. There are also blued screws and a handsome rose gold-plated openwork oscillating rotor with vertical satin-finishing and the "Frederique Constant Manufacture" engraving. Completing the Frederique Constant Classics Worldtimer Manufacture Globetrotter Blackout Limited Edition watch is a black alligator leather strap.
