Just when you thought Bell & Ross couldn’t expand their BR 05 collection any further, they launch yet another addition to end a year of insane releases. Following on from the BR 05 GMT, the BR 05 Diamond, and the BR 05 Skeleton Gold, the Swiss watch manufacturer proudly unveils the Bell & Ross BR 05 White Hawk.
Bell & Ross are no strangers to the world of aviation. Their entire founding was based upon creating functional and reliable timepieces inspired by aircraft dashboard instruments. The majority of their pilots’ watches can be found within their BR 01 and BR 03 collections, taking their famous square-shaped case and combining it with perfectly round dials and bright Superluminova hardware. Fast forward several years and the BR 05 watch collection was released in 2019, stepping away from the aviation world and bringing to life the coveted aesthetics of a luxury sports watch for men who make the city their playground. That being said, for the new Bell & Ross BR 05 Chrono White Hawk watch Bell & Ross has combined the urban DNA of the BR 05 with some distinct aviation tropes for the perfect blend of past and present.
Paying tribute to both the White Hawk aircraft, a government-level VIP transport operated by the United States Marine Corps, and the bird of prey of the same name, the Bell & Ross BR 05 White Hawk watch is largely characterised by its crisp white dial dressed in vivid details of red. The red accents can be found on the chronograph seconds hand and on the tip of the 30 minutes counter hand. Like previous BR 05 Chronographs, the Bell & Ross White Hawk’s dial also presents rounded-square chronograph counters finished in silver, large Arabic numerals at the 12 and 6 o’clock positions and Superluminova coating on the indexes and central hands.
The case of the Bell & Ross BR 05 White Hawk watch also maintains the same specification of previous BR 05 Chronograph watches with a 42mm stainless steel case fitted with four screws at each corner, a screw in crown and an integrated stainless steel bracelet. We’re also treated to sapphire crystal glass with anti-reflective treatment on both sides and a 100 metre water resistant rating. Sapphire glass can also be found on the case back where it reveals an insight into the automatic movement within as well as a unique metallised image of a hawk.
The movement in question is the BR-CAL.301 automatic winding calibre, a Swiss made movement based on the automatic modular chronograph calibre ETA 2894-2. The movement comes with a classic 360 degree oscillating rotor, 27 jewels, a frequency of 28,800vph and a 42 hour power reserve. It’s also responsible for powering the hours, minutes and chronograph seconds, small seconds dial, 30 minutes totaliser and date complication of the Bell & Ross BR 05 White Hawk watch.
