Following the launch of the Garmin Venu 2 and Venu 2S last year, Garmin have now introduced a midway sized technologically-amped up model suitably named the Garmin Venu 2 Plus.
The original Garmin Venu was launched back in 2019 and was designed for sporty men and women needing a snapshot of their health in a head-turning design. The collection also marked a first for the brand with its a high-resolution full colour AMOLED display. More recently, the second generation Venu was launched with the Venu 2 and Venu 2S which boasted better battery life, a slightly larger case size, a higher pixel resolution and a whole host of other improved functions. Now, the Garmin Venu is given yet another makeover this time with 43.6mm case size and three case buttons with one revealing access to an important new feature. What’s New?
The new Garmin Venu 2 Pro watch offers all the exact same functionality as the Garmin Venu 2 and Venu 2S alongside some significant additions. For starters, unlike the Venu 2 and 2S with its two case buttons, the Garmin Venu 2 Pro comes with three. The third crown allows you to control the new voice functionality feature which works alongside the new integrated speaker and microphone. It allows you to take or initiate phone calls completely hands-free from your wrist as long as your smartphone is in range and connected via Bluetooth. You can also manage your smartphone’s digital assistant, call emergency services and contacts and create a setting where an alert will sound if an incident is detected.
The Garmin Venu 2 Pro watch also boasts a case size of 43.60mm coming in nicely in the middle of the 45.3mm Venu 2 and the smaller 40.4mm Venus 2S. The cases are also engineered from stainless steel including a stainless steel bezel, three crowns and case back. There are three designs in total including the Garmin Venu 2 Pro with Silver Stainless Steel Bezel and Powder Grey Case, the Garmin Venu 2 Pro with Slate Stainless Steel Bezel and Black Case and the Garmin Venu 2 Pro with Cream Gold Stainless Steel Bezel With Ivory Case.
There’s also a change in battery life with the Garmin Venu 2 Pro watches promising 9 days in smartwatch mode, 10 days in Battery Saver smartwatch mode, 8 hours in GPS mode with music and up to 24 hours in GPS mode without music. The resolution remains at 416x416 pixels and is undoubtedly AMOLED.
Additional Features
Some other impressive features on the Garmin Venu 2 Pro include its Body Battery Energy monitor, Pulse Ox sensor, Stress tracking, Women’s Health tracking, Hydration tracking, Respiration tracking, Sleep score and Advanced Sleep monitoring and Fitness Age. There’s also Garmin’s new Elevate optical heart rate sensor package which promises better accuracy of heart rate monitoring and the Health Snapshot feature which allows you to log a 2 minute session to record key stats like heart rate, heart rate variability, Pulse Ox, respiration, and stress.
As for fitness features, there’s animated onscreen workouts, built-in sports apps including 25 preloaded GPS and indoor sports apps, advanced strength training, Garmin Coach and Intensity minutes. New to the Garmin Venu 2 is the HIIT workout activity profile, a sport which has become increasingly popular over the last few years. The app lets you to select different timers for your HIIT workouts and choose from your preferred number of rounds, work/rest intervals and more.
Just as the Garmin Venu has always been, the new Garmin Venu 2 Pro is just as useful during workouts as it is during day to day life. There’s smart notifications to keep you up to date with your emails, texts and alerts, music storage, Garmin Pay and of course, the new and exclusive built-in voice functionality speaker.
