The Tissot PRX 35mm Arrives with Automatic Powermatic 80 Movement

Jewellery & Watch News

Since its launch in 2021, the Tissot PRX has been a huge success for the Swiss watchmaker. Hitting all the notes of the popular integrated sports watch, the original line of Tissot PRX watches featured 40mm barrel-shaped cases, integrated bracelets and quartz movements. Shortly after, further 40mm models would follow but with waffle-textured dials and the automatic winding Powermatic 80 movement at its core. It feels like a long wait, but the luxury watch brand has finally heard our prayers pleading for a smaller, automatic winding rendition; finally we can introduce the new Tissot PRX 35mm Powermatic 80 collection.

As its name suggests, the new Tissot PRX 35mm Powermatic 80 watch measures to a significantly smaller 35mm in diameter, compared to the 40mm width of previous automatic models in the collection. But in fact, other than its diameter, very little has changed which thankfully is exactly what people want. The case still upholds its 1970’s-inspired tonneau shape with flat-brushed surfaces, polished chamfers, and a seamlessly integrated stainless steel bracelet. The height also stays at 11.3mm, making room for the Powermatic 80 movement within, and thanks to a screw in crown and screw down mineral glass case back, the cases ensure a 100 metre water resistant rating.

The Tissot PRX 35mm Powermatic 80 comes in four elegant dial colours: classic black, ocean blue, deep forest green, and white mother of pearl. These dials showcase a waffle-like pattern, which is an anticipated departure from the sunray-brushed surface found on the 35mm quartz models. The textured finish works particularly well with the new mother of pearl display, adding to its subtle iridescence. Adorning the dials are striped baton hands and applied indexes with Superluminova inserts for enhanced visibility in low light conditions and a framed date window at 3 o'clock

Continuing the tradition of the 40mm automatic models before them, the new Tissot PRX 35mm Automatic watches are powered by the Powermatic 80 movement. This well-known calibre was developed by ETA exclusively for the Swatch Group, the large Swiss umbrella that brand’s like Tissot, Rado, Hamilton and Longines sit under. The movement impresses most with its 80-hour power reserve and its Nivachron balance spring which ensures high resistance to magnetism. It also comes with a frequency of 21,600vph and modest decoration, which can be seen through the case back, including brushed and matte-blasted bridges and waved oscillating rotor.

The new Tissot PRX 35mm Powermatic 80 watch collection retails from £610 and is available to order now. If you’d like to learn more about these new releases and shop the collection for yourself, head over to the C W Sellors website or contact the team at 01335 453453 or help@jurawatches.co.uk.
