The Tiffany Blue Watch Dial That is Taking Over the Luxury Watch World

Jewellery & Watch News

If you’re new to the world of luxury watches, here’s the low down: every year without fail, there’s one particular “trend” that stands out above any other. A few years ago, it was bronze, a material which when used on a watch case will develop a unique patina, changing colour and texture as it reacts to properties in your skin. Then last year, the craze was green-dialled watches with all of the biggest watch manufacturer’s designing displays dressed in shades varying from forest green to mint green. Now for 2023, it seems its another dial colour is taking centre stage, this time the “Tiffany Blue Dial”.

What is the Tiffany Blue Watch Dial?

So how did the Tiffany Blue watch dial trend begin? Well the story of the dial colour actually began back in 2021 when Patek Philippe collaborated with Tiffany & Co. to create a Tiffany Blue-dialled 5711 Nautilus. The watch is beautiful, it’s true, but it was quickly evident that the design was not going to be available to any of us ‘regular’ folk. There was huge hype surrounding the Patek Nautilius Tiffany Dial release and only VIPs were given access to the 170 limited edition pieces produced. Some of the few celebrities known to have got their wrists on one include Jay-Z, Lebron James, and Leonardo DiCaprio. As far as we know, only one member of the general public was able to buy one and it was brought at auction for $6.5 million…

So given most of us never have and never will see that kind of money in our account, it made sense that people went on a search for Tiffany watch dial alternatives. One of the most obvious substitutes was a light blue dialled Rolex Oyster Perpetual watch which retailed at a significantly more reasonable price of £5,100. However, due to the popularity of Tiffany watch dials, the model sold out very quickly and sellers all over the web have been advertising it at around 10 times more than its original retail price. Despite this initial disappointment, we’re pleased to say there are still plenty of other “Tiffany dial” watches out there at more affordable prices.

Tiffany Watch Dial Alternatives

One of our personal favourite “Tiffany dial” watches is the Tissot PRX watch under reference T1374101109101. It boasts a gorgeous mint green brushed dial encapsulated within the contemporary integrated architecture famed for the PRX collection. Its tonneau-shaped stainless steel case measures to 39.5mm in diameter and reveals a streamlined bracelet to match. There’s also a Swiss made quartz movement housed inside to power the hours, minutes, seconds and date complication.

A “Tiffany dial” watch alternative that has already taken the internet by storm is the DOXA Sub 200 Aquamarine watch. The nautical-inspired dial colour is incredibly close to the shade used on the original Patek with the hue reaching off the display and onto the numerals of the black rotating bezel. The bezel is unidirectional to reinforce the DOXA watch’s use for diving and pairs with a 42mm stainless steel case and 200 metre water resistance. The DOXA Sub 200 Aquamarine watch is powered by an automatic movement and completed by a vintage-inspired beads-of-rice bracelet.

Finally, another “Tiffany dial” watch you can easily get your hands on is the Breitling Superocean III Automatic 44. Again, we’re treated to a gorgeous turquoise-coloured dial which beautifully mimics the design of the historic Breitling Slow Motion watch launched in the 1960’s. It’s retro markers and hands are adorned in Superluminova to allow for readability under dark waves. The Breitling Superocean III Automatic 44 also showcases a 44mm steel case, unidirectional ceramic inlay bezel, a chronometer certified movement and 300 metre water resistant rating.

When a trend like this comes about, it’s only a matter of time before even more “Tiffany blue dial” watches are launched.
