The story of the Shaun Leane jewellery brand began two decades ago, when at just 15 years of age, the British jewellery designer himself trained as an apprentice in London’s jewellery quarter, Hatton Garden. In an environment where perfection was standard, Leane learned the art of diamond mounting and antique restoration, eventually completing his apprenticeship in 1991. Just a year later, he was introduced to Alexander McQueen, who was also just starting out in the world of fashion. The pair fell in love with each other’s work and decided to collaborate together on one of McQueen’s post-college shows. From that moment, the duo became unstoppable and they changed the history of catwalk fashion forever with their exciting collaborative showcases.
One of many collections created between Leane and McQueen was The Hunger collection, inspired by the Catherine Deneuve and David Bowie film of the same name. The film’s vampire characters were reflected in models dressed in sharp collars, flesh-inspired designs and a special ‘Tusk’ earring that Leane produced for the collection. This long, sweeping sterling silver earring would later become the inspiration for today’s Shaun Leane Sabre jewellery collection with the same animalistic lines and strong curves reinvented for everyday wear.
