A 1-UP for all Super Mario fans, TAG Heuer announced last week their brand-new collaboration with Nintendo and a new Super Mario “Hero” animation watch face available on all TAG Heuer Connected Generation 3 watches.
What do veteran video game creator Nintendo and luxury Swiss watch brand TAG Heuer have in common? Before last week, very little but now the pair have announced an unexpected collaboration and the result, a funky TAG Heuer Super Mario smartwatch dial. The watch face comes after the release of a 2,000 piece limited edition TAG Heuer Super Mario watch which sold out in just under ten minutes. Crazy, right? There certainly aren’t many luxury watch brands attesting numbers like this at the moment. The design of the watch was rather exciting to say the least, especially for those of us that lived on our bedroom floors forcing the moustached-plumber to squeeze down green pipes for gold coins!
The TAG Heuer Super Mario Connected smartwatch followed all the design principles of the Connected watches before them but stood out for its unique bezel decorated with easter eggs from the games including the Super Mushroom, the Pipe and the Super Star and a crown engraved with a red lacquered ‘M’ in honour of the legendary plumber himself. It’s most distinctive feature however was its watch face which boasted a number of clever features designed to encourage wearers to keep moving and hit their goals. Every morning, Mario would greet you with a salute and then different animations would appear every time you hit 24, 50, 75 and 100 percent of your steps target.
Since the limited edition watch sold out so quickly, TAG Heuer have now announced that the Super Mario “Hero” animation watch face, which was originally only available on the watch, is now accessible on all TAG Heuer Connected Generation 3 watches. Those who already own a TAG Heuer Connected Generation 3 watch should have already received a notification informing them of the update but those who were hoping to buy the TAG Heuer Connected Super Mario Limited Edition can still enjoy TAG Heuer and Nintendo’s collaboration with one of the permanent models in the collection. How to get the new TAG Heuer Super Mario Watch Face
If you’re already an owner of a TAG Heuer Connected watch from Generation 3, then you can easily access the new Super Mario watch face through the Play Store. To do this, make sure your watch is connected to the Wi-Fi and then access the Play Store by pressing the crown once. From there, scroll down to “My Apps” and then select “Update TAG Heuer Watch Faces”. Give your watch a moment to update and then you will be able to use the new Super Mario dial. Just like the TAG Heuer Super Mario limited edition, the dial will reveal a special animation every time you hit a step goal which include some of Super Mario’s most iconic gameplay images like The Mushroom, The Pipe, The Star and The Flagpole. The dial is also wonderfully dressed in Mario’s legendary blue and red colourway.
