The Gucci Ghost Jewellery Collection

Jewellery & Watch News

For the Gucci Ghost jewellery collection, the famous Italian jewellery house collaborates with New York City street artist Trouble Andrew who cleverly takes the iconic double G motif and transforms it into the eyes of charming spooks and skulls.

The story of how the Gucci Ghost jewellery collection came to be is actually rather special. Trevor Andrew, otherwise known by his alter ego, Trouble Andrew, originally began his career as an Olympic snowboarder, competing for Canada in the 1998 Winter Olympics and the 2002 Winter Olympics. However, after an injury in 2005, he turned his attention to more creative feats including singing, eventually becoming signed by Virgin Records, and street art. It is the latter that caught the attention of Gucci Creative Director Alessandro Michele.

Trouble Andrew has had a lifelong obsession with all things Gucci and so, based in Manhattan, he began spray painting across New York City the image of a ghost with the famous GG logo as its eyes. He posted his work on Instagram using the hashtag #guccighost which quickly became another alter ego for himself. After seeing his street art across social media, Alessandro Michele invited Andrew to collaborate with Gucci and six months later, in 2016, the Gucci Ghost jewellery collection was born alongside the launch of Gucci’s FW16 line. The range included jumpers, trainers, scarves and most importantly, a stunning selection of Gucci sterling silver jewellery.

As it stands, the Gucci Ghost jewellery collection features two important motifs: the ghost and the skull. Both of which are characterised by their dripping-paint eyes shaped like the double G Gucci logo. The designs are unambiguously fluid with chunky rings, slender bangles and dainty pendants allowing for easy wear on all sexes. One of our favourite pieces is the Gucci Ghost Silver Pendant which features a cute ghost motif with a surprised open mouth and the double G eyes, perfectly mixing together two cultures of past and present. The pendant is crafted entirely from 925 sterling silver and completed on a matching clasp closed 50cm chain.

For the Gucci Ghost Skull jewellery pieces, there is a number of designs to choose from. You can find a selection of rings, bangles and pendants engraved with the image of a skull, simple dashes for the bones and dripping double G logos. The rings come in two sizes, one 12mm in thickness and the other a little daintier at 6mm while the silver chain bracelet is anything but subtle with a chunky profile and an engraved bar. The Gucci Ghost Skull necklace completes the line-up with the hand drawn skull finished on a rectangular-shaped tag pendant.
