Reviewing the TAG Heuer Connected Swimming App

Jewellery & Watch News

For 2021, TAG Heuer have updated their legendary Connected smartwatch to include several new features perfectly suited to fitness fanatics, wellness gurus, runners and of course, swimmers. Cementing the design further as a luxury sports watch, the TAG Heuer Connected Swimming App brings to life a new world of functionality where pool and open water swimmers can monitor their performance in detail through the touchscreen smartwatch itself and through the TAG Heuer Connected smartphone app. Let’s take a look at the TAG Heuer Swimming App in more detail…

How to use the TAG Heuer Connected Swimming App

To begin using the TAG Heuer Connected Swimming App, you simply press the top pusher on the right hand side of case to access the Sport app. From there, scroll using the crown at 3 o’clock to explore the different activities such as walking, cycling, golf and running until you land on swimming.  Once you’ve arrived at the swimming option, press the top pusher to confirm. As of now, the touchscreen will be automatically disabled to prevent unwanted interaction with water. A message will be displayed to confirm this, simply press the top pusher to continue. To ensure activity tracking is accurate, it will then ask you to select your pool size. Again, scroll through the options using the crown and confirm using the top pusher – you are now ready to swim!

During your swim, you can pause the tracking at any time by pressing the top pusher. To end the session, press the top button to pause followed by the button pusher. Once you’ve finished swimming, you can view a summary of your session on screen such as your total metres, calories and more. Press the top button once again to leave the session summary and return to the home dial.

Features of the TAG Heuer Connected Swimming App

There’s really not much the TAG Heuer Swimming App has left out. It automatically detects your laps by using the smartwatch’s accelerometer and gyroscope and can even detect the type of stroke you use per lap. The four different strokes it can identity are freestyle, breaststroke, backstroke and butterfly. You can view the laps on your watch screen during a swim and access further details about your performance by pausing the activity. Here, you can also begin new intervals which can be really helpful if you are wanting to swim using different strokes and compare your efforts for each. Simply pause your activity by pressing the top pusher once and press it again to begin a new interval.

You can also explore further analysis about your swim session in the TAG Heuer Connected App. View statistics such as calories burned, distance swam, pace, duration and laps. You can also view the duration, pace and distance you swam in different strokes. One of its most unique and sophisticated pieces of data is the SWOLF score, a score that measures your swimming efficiency calculated by adding the time (in seconds) to the stroke count, for a given distance. The lower your SWOLF score the better your pool session. Lastly, the TAG Heuer Connected smartwatch is water resistant to 50 metres, so can be worn for shallow water-based activities.
