Reviewing the Norqain Independence 22 Skeleton Watch

Jewellery & Watch News

Extending upon their limited edition ultra-robust Independence collection, Norqain delivers a new skeletonised timepiece with a steel case, impressive COSC-certified movement and transparent dial. There are currently 300 pieces of the new Norqain Independence 22 Skeleton watch launched with more expected to come with demand.

Last year, Norqain presented a DLC version of their Norqain Independence 22 Skeleton watch and to no one’s surprise, the design completely sold out. Now the aesthetic is revived in classic stainless steel and to ensure Norqain lovers everywhere get the chance of owning one, there is currently no fixed limited edition run. NORQAIN CEO Ben Küffer explains: “Over the years, NORQAIN has developed a passionate following and it’s important to our team that our fans can purchase and wear the watches that we launch. This new addition to the Independence collection is our response to a direct request from NORQAIN followers and wearers. We have launched 300 pieces this year and will continue to produce more of this timepiece to ensure that watch lovers who want to add it to their collection will have the possibility to do so”.

The case of the Norqain Independence 22 Skeleton watch is a work of art in itself, and yet easily overlooked for the centrepiece dial. It sits on the wrist at 42mm in diameter and at a height of 11.8mm offering a total of three finishes for a stunning look: brushed, polished and sandblasted. Its durable architecture is paired with a screw down crown at 3 o’clock engraved with the double N logo and protruding crown guards for a water resistant rating of 100 metres. The side of the case also reveals a special screwed polished plate engraved with the Swiss watch manufacturer’s name.

The dial of the Norqain Independence 22 Skeleton Limited Edition is the key talking point, housed beneath box-shaped sapphire crystal glass treated with anti-reflective coating. The display reveals the mesmerising workings of the NORQAIN calibre NN08S in a metallic ruthenium colour and sits beneath two skeletonised hands for the hours and minutes and a red tipped seconds hand. All three are marked by Superluminova X1 which emits a glowing white colour for easy legibility in low light. The scratch-proof glass is marked with the Norqain logo while its chronometer status is stamped on the ring for better visibility of the movement.

According to the press release for the Norqain Independence 22 Skeleton watch, the NORQAIN calibre NN08S skeletonised movement takes inspiration for its architecture from beam construction. Unlike other skeletonised movement, the arms are straight and each support point is held by at least two arms to ensure durability and exceptional robustness. The automatic winding movement is also COSC-certified and promises a power reserve of 38 hours and a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour. The Norqain Independence 22 Skeleton Limited Edition secures to the wrist by a three-row link stainless steel bracelet with brushed and polished finishing and a folding buckle.
