Jewellery & Watch News

When Bremont was founded in 2002, brothers and co-founders Nick and Giles English set out to create beautifully crafted pilot’s watches of exceptional quality. Twenty years later, despite Bremont’s portfolio including much more than just pilot’s instruments, the British watch manufacturer is still largely defined by its passions and experience in aviation. Alongside pilot’s watches like the Bremont Martin Baker, Solo and ALT1, we’re now treated to a brand new timepiece of the cockpit: the Bremont Fury.
The Bremont Fury is more than just another pilot’s watch. It features Bremont’s first manufacture movement series known as the ENG300 which has been designed and built to the brand’s exact specifications in their facility in Henley-on-Thames. Alongside the launch of the movement itself, Bremont have cleverly developed their Bremont H1 Timing Standard which they describe as being directly comparable to the ISO3159:2009 Chronometer test. This ensures each Bremont H1 watch, which includes the Bremont Supernova, Bremont Audley and the Bremont Fury, boasts high levels of precision, durability and reliability. While the Bremont Supernova exudes an aesthetic of integrated sports elegance and the Bremont Audley is the epitome of a classic dress watch, the Bremont Fury watch has been designed as a classic three hand pilot’s instrument honouring the English brother’s own passions for planes and flying. Its name also nods to some of the world’s most renowned aircrafts including the 1930s Hawker Fury and the 1940s WW2 Hawker Sea Fury.
Other than its movement, a large defining feature of the Bremont Fury watch is its case which features a large knurled flattened onion shaped crown just like those of the military pilot’s watches from the 1940’s. The crown is topped by a piece of enamel decorated with the Bremont propeller logo set onto the left hand side of the 40mm stainless steel case. The case is engineered using the brand’s Trip-Tick case construction and sits at 12.9mm high with a smooth unadorned bezel, domed sapphire crystal glass with anti-reflective treatment and a scratch resistant PVD treated case barrel coloured in the same shade as the dial.
The Bremont Fury watch comes in two dial shades, a classic jet black colour or a rich blue. Both designs are set with large Arabic numerals including a large triangle marker at 12 o’clock, propeller shaped hands for the hours and minutes and a slender, arrow-tipped seconds hand. All of these features are generously coated in Superluminova to ensure effortless legibility in the cockpit. The Bremont Fury watches also boast a date window at 3 o’clock and a snailed power reserve counter at 6 o’clock. The latter features contrasting accents of red, matching with the tip of the seconds hand, to warn you of when the 65 hour power reserve is getting low.
Powering the Bremont Fury watches is the ENG365 automatic winding movement, a British made calibre forming part of the brand’s ENG300 movement series. As mentioned above, it is tested under the Bremont H1 Timing Standard for chronometer standard accuracy. We’re also promised 22 jewels, a silicon escape wheel, a frequency of 25,200 vibrations per hour and a 65 hour power reserve. The Bremont ENG365 can be admired through the sapphire crystal case back of each Bremont Fury watch where the open-worked, Bremont-decorated rotor spins with every movement of the wrist. Finally, the Bremont Fury watches are completed by black or navy calfskin leather straps with white contrasting stitching and a polished stainless steel pin buckle.
