Oris’ robust and reliable divers’ model is given a promising makeover by way of a vivid sunray red dial. Nicknamed the Oris Aquis Date “Cherry Red”, the crimson-faced piece is also home to the brand’s new mid-size 41.5mm Aquis case and a relief stainless steel bezel, just like that seen on the Big Crown divers from the 1990s.
The Oris Aquis is arguably the Swiss watch manufacturer’s most iconic design and for many, the archetypal divers watch for its durable, 300 metre water resistant case and instantly legible Superluminova markings. The Oris Aquis Date Cherry Red watch continues to deliver exceptional performance for use underwater with its 41.5mm stainless steel case and matching matte steel relief bezel. A relief bezel like this one differs from regular bezels for its identifying numerals and scale on the surface that are rendered three-dimensional and stand “in relief” from the surface. It allows the Arabic numerals on the 60 minute divers scale to stand out more prominently in both touch and sight, ensuring additional security and protection for divers. The finish is reminiscent of Oris’ Aquis Date Relief model released in 2019 and as expected comes equipped with unidirectional functionality.
It’s 300 metre water resistant rating is secured by a screw down crown with diver’s protection, sapphire crystal glass with anti-reflective treatment and a screw down exhibition case back which delivers a breathtaking view of the red oscillating rotor and automatic winding movement housed inside. The Oris Aquis Date Cherry Red is fuelled by the classic Oris 733 calibre, the powerhouse to all Oris Aquis Date models. It’s Swiss made construction is based on the Sellita SW200-1 and delivers Superluminova coated hour and minute hands, a sleek lollipop seconds hand and a date window at 3 o’clock. It also guarantees 26 jewels, 28,800 vibrations per hour and a power reserve of 38 hours.
In true Aquis style, the Oris Aquis Date Cherry Red watch is equipped with an integrated, multi-piece tapered stainless steel bracelet with three-link construction. Suitable for sitting under the cuff of a shirt or over the thickness of a waterproof diving suit, the bracelet also enables easy wear with its inventive clasp extension system.
