To celebrate 175 years of Glashütte, one of the greatest watchmaking centres in Europe, Nomos Glashütte have unveiled a stunning trio of Nomos Ludwig 175 Years Limited Edition watches. All three feature unique white enamel dials and stunning blue leaf hands designed as a visual homage to the German watchmaking centre, the talented watchmakers that reside there and the stunning timepieces they manufacture.
While Switzerland may be the traditional heartland of luxury watchmaking, Glashütte remains a key epicentre of fine watch design and production and is home to some of the world’s most notable watch brands including Glashütte Original, Muhle Glashütte, A.Lange & Söhne and of course Nomos Glashütte. In honour of the regions 175th birthday, Nomos have released three new Ludwig limited editions, each boasting a unique case size, different chronometer-certified movements, and handsome dial designs indicative of the classic and sophisticated aesthetics signature of the Nomos Ludwig collection.
Beautifully crafted from stainless steel, the Nomos Ludwig 175 Years Limited Edition watch cases come in three sizes: 35mm, 39mm and 41mm. A size for every wrist, the elegant casing is carefully designed to be minimal in shape with a round central case and long narrow straight lugs. The elegant architecture of the stainless steel cases allow the Horween Genuine Shell Cordovan black leather straps to contour perfectly around your wrist and sit comfortably beneath a shirt cuff. To mark their limited edition status of 175 pieces, each Nomos Ludwig 175 Years Limited Edition is beautifully crafted with an open sapphire crystal case back alongside an engraving which displays the limited edition number and the words “Ludwig – 175 Years Watchmaking Glashütte”.
A staple feature of the Nomos Ludwig, the Nomos Glashütte Ludwig 175 Years Anniversary watches boast traditional Roman numerals paired with a classical railroad track minute scale and blue hands for both the main dial and the small seconds subsidiary dial. The classic white enamel treated dial brings a delicate yet contemporary finish to the wrist and perfectly encapsulates the minimalism of the German brand with a subtle twist of tradition and antiquity.
All three Nomos Ludwig 175 Years Limited Edition watches accommodate an in-house movement, a tribute to both Nomos’ and the regions expertise in mechanical movement manufacture. The smaller of the three, the 35mm Nomos Ludwig, is powered by the manual winding Alpha calibre with a power reserve of 43 hours, classic central hands for hours and minutes and a small seconds at 6 o’clock. The 39mm variant offers the same functionality but is powered by the ultra-thin 3.2mm DUW 3001 movement equipped with the Nomos swing system. Lastly, the Nomos Ludwig 41mm makes use of its extra dial space and includes a date window at 3 o’clock displayed in matching Roman numerals. This final variant is powered by the DUW 6101 and has a power reserve of 42 hours.
It’s difficult to imagine a better set of watches to celebrate 175 years of Glashütte, with the Nomos Ludwig 175 Years Limited Editions perfectly capturing the region’s expertise, heritage and tradition.
