Swiss watchmaker Louis Erard returns with another highly collectible and accessible limited edition timepiece created in partnership with horological studio Massena LAB. The new Le Chronographe Monopoussoir Louis Erard x Massena LAB watch pairs the silver or gold frosted dial of last year with a four-handed, monopusher chronograph movement, limited to just 178 pieces.
In recent years, Louis Erard has undergone a remarkable transformation, emerging as one of the most prominent and promising Swiss watch manufacturers in the world. Spearheading this brand evolution is Manuel Emch, the CEO and artistic director of Louis Erard, who has successfully steered the company towards blending exquisite craftsmanship with affordable price points. Through strategic collaborations with renowned designers such as Vianney Halter, Seconde/Seconde, and Alain Silberstein, Louis Erard has managed to incorporate rare techniques like hand-guilloche, enamel work, and gemstone setting into their timepieces. Their motto “Together we are stronger" embodies these collaborations and aims to push their quest for excellence as far as possible.
The inaugural Louis Erard and Massena LAB collaboration came this time last year with the launch of the Le Regulateur Louis Erard x Massena LAB Limited Edition. It took inspiration from clocks and marine chronometers of the late 18th and early 19th centuries, pairing a regulator display with metallic silver or gold grained dials. The new Le Chronographe Monopoussoir Louis Erard x Massena LAB watch is executed in a similar way, offering the same metallic dial colours and perfectly round stainless steel case with a contemporary monopusher chronograph movement inside.
Like the Le Regulateur watches from last year, the new Le Chronographe Monopoussoir Louis Erard x Massena LAB watch delivers two captivating dial colours, one in rhodium-plated silver and another in 2N gold plating. The lower plates have exquisite, frosted detailing which contrasts dramatically to the smooth rhodium-plated outer flange and satin-finished counter at 12 o’clock for the 30 minute chronograph function. For easy readability, the hands for the hours, minutes, chronograph seconds and 30 minutes counter are painted blue and leaf-shaped while the markers and minutes track and Louis Erard and Massena logos are printed in black.
Alongside the beautifully handcrafted dial, the Le Chronographe Monopoussoir Louis Erard x Massena LAB watch’s other pièce de résistance is the monopusher-crown. Executed in typical Massena LAB style, the single crown controls all functionality on the dial. Whereas typical chronographs have two additional push pieces on the case for starting and stopping the stopwatch function, the Louis Erard X Massena LAB Le Chronographe Monopoussoir watch offers the start, stop and reset with one lone pusher. Allowing for this is the automatic monopusher chronograph Sellita SW500MPCa movement with 25 jewels, a frequency of 28,800vph, and a power reserve of 48 hours.
Turning the Le Chronographe Monopoussoir Louis Erard x Massena LAB watch over allows you to admire the monopusher movement housed inside including the Louis Erard engraved skeletonised oscillating rotor. The case back also reveals its limited edition status of 178 pieces. The rest of the case adheres to the aesthetics of previous Louis Erard Excellence watches including a perfectly round 43mm diameter, 15.7mm height, polished surfaces, domed sapphire crystal glass with anti-reflective treatment and a water resistance of 50 metres. The Le Chronographe Monopoussoir Louis Erard x Massena LAB watch wears on the wrist by a black grained leather strap with blue leather lining and a classic stainless steel pin buckle.
