With the introduction of the new Summit Lite smartwatch collection, Montblanc deliver a new streamlined design filled with fresh patented features aimed to help you elevate your fitness and bring your wellbeing goals to a new level. Nicknamed the Summit Lite for its lightweight aluminium build, this new generation of high-end smartwatches perfectly balances the line between luxury and affordable, retailing at an impressive £700 while providing a host of streamlined functionalities found elsewhere at a much heftier price tag.
After the success of the Summit 2 and Summit 2+ collections, we have been anticipating what the next Montblanc wearable would look like. Late last week, we got our answer when the first sneak-peek was revealed showing an all-black sleek looking smartwatch with slim lugs, a colourful display and a sporty black rubber strap. It turns out there are a total of four Montblanc Summit Lite smartwatches to choose from. Two of which are engineered from matte black coated recycled aluminium with a choice of a sporty black textile strap or rubber strap. The other two are in a matte silver-coloured recycled aluminium with the same two choices for straps.
Nicolas Baretzki, Montblanc CEO, describes the concept of the Montblanc Summit Lite as follows: “With the renewed focus on health, fitness, mindfulness and wellbeing we are witnessing today, our goal was to create a smartwatch that had just the right tools to support its owner throughout the day, in a way that was instinctive and effortless for today’s business lifestyle customer. Named Summit Lite after its lightweight design, it aligns with its wearer’s activities and is built for high performing individuals who are constantly on the move and blend their workout routine with their work routine,”
Measuring to 43mm in size, the high performance appearance of each Montblanc Summit Lite watch includes a crisp 1.19“ AMOLED display with Gorilla Cover Glass, an updated heart rate monitor, GPS functionality and a water resistant rating of 50 metres. Like other Montblanc Summit watches from the past, the technology within is powered by Wear OS by Google and remains compatible with both Android and iOS smartphones. The technology uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 3100 and promises a memory of 1GB and a storage of 8GB. The Montblanc Summit Lite also provides Bluetooth, WiFi and GPS connectivity and Google Pay and Google Assistant.
One of the key selling points of the new Montblanc Summit Lite watch collection is its introduction of four brand new trademarked apps designed exclusively by Montblanc. The first of them is called the Cardio Coach and is described as giving you personalised workout recommendations based on your current fitness level calculated by the built in VO2 max. It gives you live coaching advice and allows you to track your progress and adjust your goals accordingly. Perfectly paired with that Cardio Coach app is the new Body Energy monitor which is designed to track your mental and physical exhaustion. It will notify you on days when your energy is low and vice versa, so on days when you have more energy you can optimise your energy use with a workout.
The third Montblanc proprietary app is the Sleep Tracker. As you’d imagine, this technology tracks your sleep when you wear the Montblanc Summit Lite to bed. It will give you a detailed analysis of the length and quality of your sleep as well as how long you found yourself in certain sleep stages. Combining all this data, it will then issue personalised recommendations on how you can improve your sleep quality and thus gain a better daily energy level. The fourth and final app is the Stress App which uses your heart rate, VO2 and other measurements to track your physical and mental stresses. It will then give you advice on how best to respond to these events including access to different breathing exercises.
