Jewellery & Watch News

Frederique Constant arrived in the Swiss watchmaking world in 1988, founded by Aletta Bax and Peter Stas with a mission to make the luxury watch more affordable. In just a matter of years, their objective was fulfilled, offering elegant designs, Swiss made movements and innovative complications at an accessible price point for the many. The Frederique Constant Classics collection, as its name suggests, has always been one of their most timeless ranges with discreet and simple aesthetics perfect for an everyday dress watch. For 2022, the Swiss watch manufacturer extends their Classics line with a five new models, two Classics Heart Beat watches and a trio of Classics Index watches.
The Frederique Constant Classics Index Automatic Watches
Starting off with the most traditional of the lot, the three new Frederique Constant Classics Index Automatic watches are the epitome of a daily-beater. They are elegantly clean and simple in their execution and yet offer a level of sophistication known only to the Frederique Constant Classics collection. Their dials in particular will appeal to lovers of traditional watchmaking characterised by their Roman numerals, Breguet-style hands and stunning guilloche-like detailing. The watches all measure to 40mm in diameter with a height of 10.3mm and are powered by the automatic winding FC-303 calibre which takes its base from the Sellita SW-200 offering classic time and date function and a power reserve of 38 hours.
The three Frederique Constant Classics Index Automatic watches differ for their dial colour, case material and strap. The first reference is FC-303MC5B6 which opts for a stainless steel case, silver-coloured dial with black numerals and hands and a matching black leather strap. The second is model FC-303MCK5B6 which follows suit with a steel case and a black leather strap but instead opts for a khaki green dial with contrasting white numerals and hands. Lastly, the most opulent-looking piece is reference FC-303MC5B4 which presents a 40mm rose gold plated case, a silver dial with black hardware and a brown leather strap.
The Frederique Constant Classics Heart Beat Automatic Watches
The Frederique Constant Classics Heart Beat watch is one of the brand’s most emblematic models. The design was first created in 1994 making it one of the Swiss watch manufacturer’s very first designs. Its elegant appearance is defined by the openwork aperture on the dial at 12 o’clock which showcases the beating heat – hence the name – of the automatic winding movement inside. The movement in question is the same as that used in the Classics Index watches, the Calibre FC-310, with a frequency of 28,800vph and a 38-hour power reserve.

The new Frederique Constant Classics Heart Beat Automatic watches also sit on the wrist at 40mm in diameter and 10.3mm in height and opt for traditional dials decorated in brushed chapter rings, thin signature hands, a textured centre and Roman numerals. The first Frederique Constant Classics Heart Beat watch is found under reference FC-310MC5B6 and elects a stainless steel case and a classic silver-coloured dial. The second is model FC-310MCK5B6 also boasting a steel case but a dark khaki green dial. Both watches are worn on black leather straps.
