Jewellery & Watch News
Since their founding in 1992, Bell & Ross have had one main focus: pilots watches. At the beginning, their timepieces were traditional aviation instruments with classic round cases and slender lugs. That was until 2005, when the Swiss watch manufacturer changed their future with the release of the BR 01. Characterised by its square case and round dial, the Bell & Ross BR 01 was designed to evoke the flight instruments seen in airplane cockpits demanding attention with large 46 millimetre profiles. A few years later and the BR 03 joined the brand’s portfolio, delivering the same aesthetic but with a smaller 42 millimetre case size and a handy date window. Today, the Bell & Ross BR 03 collection is gifted a new addition: meet the freshly released Bell & Ross BR 03-92 Orange Diver watch.
The new Bell & Ross BR 03-92 Orange Diver watch is the epitome of a professional diver’s instrument. Ever since wristwear became a necessity for underwater exploration, instant legibility has remained at the forefront of every diver’s watch design and with Bell & Ross’ latest limited edition release, legibility has certainly not been snubbed. It’s neon orange dial immediately claims your eyes with a smooth matte finish and wonderfully contrasting blackened hands and applied metal indexes. The hands and indexes are further amplified by a generous helping of white Superluminova, bringing together a wonderful orange, black and white aesthetic perfectly suited to the dark depths of the ocean.
Like all of Bell & Ross’ diving watches, the new BR 03-92 Orange Diver Limited Edition meets the IS0 6425 diving standards. What are these standards, we hear you ask? Basically, any watch tested under ISO 6425 standards has the right to be marked as a diving instrument and will show the depth rating in meters. This means the Bell & Ross BR 03-92 Orange Diver has been subjected to a selection of tests to ensure it meets all the requirements for diving including temperature, condensation, anti-magnetic, chock and of course, water resistant tests. At the end, the limited edition has been certified as water resistant to 300 metres which is the exact rating required for taking your watch on an underwater adventure.
It’s 300 metre water resistance is helped by a screw down crown and case back engraved with the Bell & Ross emblem and its limited edition status out of 250 pieces. The 42 millimetre stainless steel case continues to ensure robustness diving performance as it comes topped with a black adonised aluminium insert bezel with unidirectional rotating functionality and a white 60 minutes scale, a tool useful for divers wanting to monitor their oxygen levels. The Bell & Ross BR 03-92 Orange Diver retains its classic square-shaped finish with brushed finished detailing and scratch resistant sapphire crystal glass to protect the dial. The glass is also applied with a coating of anti-reflective treatment.
Housed within the case is the BR-CAL.302 automatic winding movement based on the Sellita SW-300. Alongside the Superluminova hands for hours, minutes and seconds and date window at 4 o’clock, the Swiss made movement promises a power reserve of 38 hours and a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour. To complete the Bell & Ross BR 03-92 Orange Diver Limited Edition, the case is fitted with a choice of two straps, both delivered in its exclusive packaging. The first is a classic black rubber band and the second is a unique orange ultra-resilient textile strap.
