An urban-inspired unisex watch of black and khaki green, the new Maurice Lacroix Pontos Day-Date Khaki Limited Edition debuted at this year’s Geneva Watch Days 2022 event and with it proved the Swiss watch brand’s latest direction for its stylish dress watch collection. The limited edition of 1,000 pieces is available to order now on the C W Sellors website.
Over the past year in particular, Maurice Lacroix have placed much of their creative strength into their luxury sports watch, the Aikon. We’ve seen the design transformed with different dial colours and case metals, such as bronze and titanium, as well as part of limited edition collaborations. For Geneva Watch Days 2022 however, Maurice Lacroix are giving the limelight to their handsome, classically styled range of dress watches known as the Maurice Lacroix Pontos. Offering selections of easy to wear and affordably priced timepieces for men and women, the collection certainly deserves more attention than it has been getting and giving it just that is the brand’s next release: the Maurice Lacroix Pontos Day-Date Khaki Limited Edition.
While still undeniably a beautiful occasion watch, the new Maurice Lacroix Pontos Day-Date Khaki Limited Edition sports some urban-esque features that would feel just as at home on the Aikon. One of these traits is the black DLC coating which is layered across the entirety of the 41mm stainless steel case. Despite its male-orientated diameter, the black coating instantly shrinks the case on the wrist and thanks to this, the 11mm height and tapering, stepped lugs, the watch feels perfectly suited to the wrists of women too. The case also features a fluted crown, sapphire crystal glass, a 100 metre water resistant rating and an exhibition case back.
The dial of the 1,000 piece Maurice Lacroix Pontos Day-Date Khaki Limited Edition watch is where the release gets its name. The gorgeous sunray brushed backdrop is adorned in a dark khaki green hue. Certain elements of the dial, including that behind the day of the week aperture and date window are recessed and although adorned in the shade of green contrast just slightly to the rest of the display with a sandblasted finishing. For marking the hours, the Maurice Lacroix Pontos Day-Date Khaki watch opts for black-plated baton indexes and a matching black ‘M’ logo at the 12 o’clock position. There’s also black-plated hands for the hours and minutes coated in Superluminova, a red-tipped seconds hand and black backdrops for the curved day and box-shaped date windows.
Powering the Maurice Lacroix Pontos Day-Date Khaki Limited Edition watch is the Calibre ML143 automatic winding movement. It ensures Swiss made precision of the hours, minutes, seconds, day and date functions alongside a frequency of 28,800vph and a power reserve of 38 hours. As previously mentioned, the Geneva Watch Days 2022 release enjoys a sapphire crystal glass case back so you can watch the movement in all its glory including decorations like rhodium-plating, circular graining and Côtes de Genève stripes.
Securing the Maurice Lacroix Pontos Day-Date Khaki watch to the wrist a dark green NATO-style strap adorned with tone-on-tone stitching and a black DLC coated steel butterfly clasp. The strap features the brand’s innovative easy strap exchange system so you can easily switch this band out for another.
The Maurice Lacroix Pontos Day-Date Khaki watch retails at £1,780 and is a limited edition of 1,000 pieces.
