Maurice Lacroix extends its iconic Aikon line with a new Maurice Lacroix Aikon Venturer watch fully dressed in bronze and paired with a fresh anthracite coloured dial. The warm honey tones of the bronze coupled with the masculine hues of grey deliver a subtle yet sophisticated contrast perfectly suited to land, water and sky.
Maurice Lacroix’s love of bronze first began back in 2017 with the release of the Aikon Bronze Quartz watch. It was one of the first designs part of the strong growth of bronze as an alternative to steel and titanium in the luxury watchmaking world as more and more collectors were becoming mesmerised by the material’s unique patination. Shortly after the quartz reference, Maurice Lacroix launched a gorgeous green-dialled Aikon Bronze Automatic Limited Edition which with its dark brown ceramic insert on the bezel and military green dial matching the patinated case became a fast favourite.
Now, as part of their 2021 Watches & Wonders releases, Maurice Lacroix have launched yet another bronze automatic watch. Just like its evolving predecessors, the Maurice Lacroix Aikon Venturer Bronze Anthracite watch is engineered entirely from bronze so it will develop its own stylish patina. Measuring to 43 millimetres in diameter, the bronze case is also equipped with a bronze screw down crown, unidirectional bezel and pin buckle, all of which will change colour over time when it reacts to moisture in the skin and oxygen in the air. At the end of the day, every Maurice Lacroix Aikon Venturer Bronze watch will eventually become entirely unique to its wearer.
Unlike its green-dialled counterpart, which paired its green sunburst dial with a dark-brown ceramic insert bezel, the new Maurice Lacroix Aikon Venturer Bronze Anthracite watch combines its sun brushed anthracite dial with ceramic executed in black. The darkness of the black ceramic contrasts sharply against the bronze case and bezel engraved with a 60 minute scale around its circumference and a luminous key marker at 12 o clock. Like the marker, the central hands and indexes on the anthracite dial are filled with Superluminova and outlined in an elegant bronze colour. The dial is protected by scratch resistant sapphire crystal glass treated with an anti-reflective coating.
The Maurice Lacroix Aikon Venturer Bronze Anthracite watch measures to 43 millimetres in diameter and 12 millimetres in thickness and comes equipped with a closed case back engineered from stainless steel, a smart choice seen in most bronze watches to prevent any tarnishing of the skin. The screw down case back ensures a water resistant rating of 300 metres and protects the ML115 automatic winding calibre ticking within. Based on the Sellita SW200-1, the Swiss made movement provides hours, minutes and seconds function, a date window at 3 o’clock and a power reserve of 38 hours.
Ideal for those looking to take the new release out in the water and then straight out to dinner, the Maurice Lacroix Aikon Venturer Bronze Anthracite comes with two straps: a black rubber band and an elegant anthracite-coloured calfskin leather strap. Both options are fitted with a bronze pin buckle and can be easily changed over thanks to Maurice Lacroix’s innovative Easy Change system.
