Introducing the Seiko 140th Anniversary Prospex, Astron, Presage and 5 Sports Watches

Jewellery & Watch News

As this year marks the 140th anniversary of Seiko’s founding in 1881, the Japanese watch manufacturer has gone all out with their 2021 watch releases. We have already seen a limited edition trio of Seiko Prospex Island Green watches and a Seiko Astron GPS Solar Yozakura Limited Edition, but now Seiko has released four more limited edition models across their Prospex, Astron, Presage and 5 Sport families all dressed in the same blue and silvery white livery.

Back in 1881, a 21 year old Hattori Kintaro opened a boutique selling and repairing watches and clocks in central Tokyo. Driven by his famous motto, “Always one step ahead of the rest”, he established the 'Seikosha' factory eleven years later and from then inspired over a century of innovation. His words resonate within each Seiko watch today and it is his journey of determination and traditional craftsmanship that is celebrated in the new Seiko 140th Anniversary watches inclusive of a throwback diving instrument, a sporty three-hand reference, a GMT dress watch and a high functioning solar powered model.

First up in the series is the Seiko Prospex reference SPB213. As part of the brand’s most popular collection, we have no doubt this will be one of the first to sell out. As will all the Seiko 140th Anniversary releases, the Prospex model is dressed in a handsome white and blue uniform including a textured white dial with generously applied Lumbrite on the blue hour and minute hands and a blue circular grained unidirectional divers bezel.
