When the first Bremont Martin Baker watch was launched back in 2009, it set a standard for all other luxury watches that followed. Designed in collaboration with the Martin Baker company, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of aircraft ejection systems, the Bremont MB has become renowned for its resilience to adventure undergoing extensive testing before being allowed out on the wrist. From shock to vibration, temperature and salt fog tests, every Bremont Martin Baker watch is subjected to the same tests as Martin Baker ejection seats making them some of the most robust and reliable timepieces in the industry. Following on from the limited edition MBI watches designed solely for pilots who have been ejected from an aircraft using a Martin-Baker seat and the MBII and MBIII models saved for us mortals, the British watch manufacturer have officially launched their latest instalment: the Bremont MB Savanna.

Characterised almost entirely by its mono-colour palette, the Bremont MB Savanna Special Edition watch is the first from the Martin Baker collection to be engineered from grade 5 titanium. The lightweight and scratch resistant properties of the 43mm diameter case are further reinforced by a military-inspired matt finish and a protective tactical coating to help reduce any distracting reflections in the cockpit. Meanwhile, the savanna-coloured dial at the centre takes inspiration from the desert of the same name delivering exceptional legibility with its muted grey backdrop and sand-coloured Grade X1 Superluminova coated numerals, indexes and hands. The strap of the Bremont MB Savanna watch completes its stealthy colourway dubbed in a matching hue of greige and crafted from water resistant rubber.
Other than its new military-like shading and lightweight titanium construction, the Bremont MB Savanna watch pretty much follows suit to the Bremont Martin Baker watches before it. The case is engineered using the brand’s legendary Trip-Tick construction and boasts a knurled aluminium barrel and two knurled crowns, a feature inspired by components on the Martin Baker ejection seats. While the crown at 2 o’clock classically manipulates the timekeeping hands, the additional crown at 4 o’clock operates the Roto-Click 60 minute bezel which satisfyingly clicks for every minute rotated. Another distinguishing trait of a Bremont Martin Baker watch is its seconds hand, and the Bremont MB Savanna Special Edition follows suit presenting the same yellow and black loop at the seconds hand’s end, a direct reference to Martin Baker’s ejection pull handles.
Displayed through the 100 metre water resistant sapphire crystal case back, the BE-36AE automatic winding calibre provides the Bremont MB Savanna watch with classic central hands for hours, minutes and seconds, a date window at 3 o’clock, a power reserve of 38 hours and a frequency of 28,800vph. The mechanical calibre has also been COSC certified and comes equipped with 26 jewels, some of which are spotted through the back beside the Bremont decorated skeletonised rotor, and a protective patented anti-shock movement mount which is designed to absorb any harsh shocks to the watch’s case.
