Completing reversing the traditional principles of day and night legibility, Bell & Ross extend their Vintage line with the Bell & Ross BR V2-94 “Full Lum” watch. Taking its name from the French word for light “lumiere”, the limited edition of 250 pieces perfectly embodies the spirit of the aviation brand with a fully luminous green Superluminova C5 pigment dial.
The first and only Bell & Ross “Full Lum” watch before the new BR V2-94 reference was the Bell & Ross BR 03-92 Diver released during the summer of last year. With this design, the brand’s iconic circle-within-a-square case delivered all the fundamentals of a dive watch with a rotating 60 minute bezel, robust matte black ceramic profile and a highly legible light green full-lume dial. Now, the legibility required by divers is demanded by pilots as the BR V2-94, a reference usually saved for lovers of vintage chronographs, is given a neon makeover worthy of supplying professional and amateur aviators alike instant legibility in the cockpit.
What usually is an obvious vintage aesthetic, the full lume dial gives the retro chronograph a reinforced military instrument feel. Decorated in pale green Superluminova C5 pigment, the Bell & Ross BR V2-94 “Full Lum” Limited Edition is immediately set apart from its traditional companions and instantly lights up in complete darkness. Regardless of that however, elements of sophistication are maintained thanks to the similarly luminous metal skeletonised hands, painted black Arabic numerals and a subtle date window between 4 and 5 o’clock. The luminous dial also presents to subsidiary counters, also coated in Superluminova, one for 30 seconds at 3 o’clock and the second for the 30 minutes counter at 9 o’clock.
As with many of the Bell & Ross Vintage watches before it, the new BR V2-94 “Full Lum” Limited Edition delivers a classy aesthetic owing to a 41mm round stainless steel case complete with slender lugs and satin polished finishing. A casual and retro-inspired vibe is presented from the anodised black aluminium ring bezel which is fixed and dressed in a white 60 minute scale. The case also delivers a healthy water resistance rating of 100 metres thanks to the screw down crown and screw down exhibition case back.
Through the sapphire crystal glass case back, the Bell & Ross BR V2-94 “Full Lum” Limited Edition displays its working automatic winding movement. The BR-CAL.301 calibre is no stranger to the Vintage collection, powering most of the families’ chronographs. The movement is based on the sturdy ETA 2894-2 calibre and delivers 37 jewels, a power reserve of 42 hours and a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour alongside the central hands for hours and minutes, small seconds, date and chronograph complication.
Ultra-domed sapphire crystal glass protects the fully luminous dial and is treated with anti-reflective coating for optimal legibility. To complete the Bell & Ross BR V2-94 “Full Lum” watch, a waterproof black rubber strap is included, adding a sporty finish to the piece, alongside a classic pin buckle engineered from polished stainless steel. The watch will retail at £4,300.
Although only a limited edition of 250 pieces, it seems only 12 of these will be entering the UK.
