Bell & Ross adds to their line of BR 05 watches by pairing the integrated case and bracelet with a new gold infused centrepiece. Meet the Bell & Ross BR 05 Skeleton Golden watch, a limited edition of 500 pieces.
For a luxury watch brand that specialises in instrument watches, specifically watches for the wrists of pilot’s, Bell & Ross sure are talented at creating urban watches with a more modern style. Yes, we’re talking about the BR 05 collection which combines their iconic “square-within-a-circle” architecture with integrated cases and bracelets. The line was originally launched in 2019 and began with a range of time-and-date only designs and a single skeletonised limited edition watch with a greyed centre. The BR 05 Skeleton has since remained a mainstay in the collection, selling out of its limited quantities and being replaced by new colourways. In 2019, the Swiss watch manufacturer launched the BR 05 Skeleton Blue which was later dethroned by the BR 05 Nightlum boasting incredible Superluminova luminosity. The Bell & Ross BR 05 watch collection also recently introduced the BR 05 Skeleton Green watch which elected olive-coloured sapphire crystal glass over its openwork dial.
Like the BR 05 Skeleton Green watch, the new Bell & Ross BR 05 Skeleton Golden Limited Edition doesn’t apply its new golden hue to the movement itself but to a transparent sapphire panel which sits above it. The glass is beautifully coloured in a warm gold colour and is surrounded by a galvanised golden flange which when light shines through it, diffuses a unique amber light. The implements used to display the hours, minutes and seconds all sit above the gold infused lens, electing large Arabic numerals, baton-shaped indexes and skeletonised hands. The hardware is gold plated and coated in Grade X1 White 10 SuperLumiNova which glows with a green luminescence in the dark.
The rest of the Bell & Ross BR 05 Skeleton Golden watch replicates those before it, electing a stainless steel case at 41mm in diameter and 10.33mm in height. The case is brushed and polished and adorned with four screws that sit at each corner of the rounded square bezel. We’re also warranted a screw in crown at 3 o’clock protected by lateral guards and a screw down sapphire crystal case back, both promising a 100 metre water resistant rating. The Bell & Ross BR 05 Skeleton Golden Limited Edition is completed by a choice of two straps, a brown rubber strap or a stainless steel bracelet both closed by a traditional folding buckle.
“The integration of the bracelet into the case is carried out according to the brand’s codes while at the same time bringing another dimension to the watch: the first link is part of the case. This type of design has been a reference since the 1970s and when we transpose it to Bell & Ross, we obtain a result that is both obvious and ergonomic”, says Bruno Belamich.
Obscured by the new golden display of the Bell & Ross BR 05 Skeleton Golden watch, the BR-CAL.322 automatic winding calibre delivers the hours, minutes and seconds function and a reasonable power reserve of 38 hours. As mentioned, you can watch the movement hard at work through the watch’s case back including the handsome skeletonised oscillating rotor. “We started from a good movement to create a beautiful movement”, states Bruno Belamich, co-founder and Creative Director of Bell & Ross, detailing the finishes of the self-winding Swiss Made calibre BR-CAL.322.
