History of Chopard
Chopard is a well-known name in the luxury Swiss watch and jewellery industry. It is renowned for its creative designs, advanced technology, and skilled artisans. The company has undergone a spectacular journey under the Scheufele family's leadership from 1963 to the present day. Founded in 1860 by Louis-Ulysse Chopard, the company's initial focus was on making watches. In 1937, Chopard moved its watch-making operations from the Swiss Jura to Geneva and Karl Scheufele III, with his passion for creativity and watchmaking, took over the Chopard business. Karl Scheufele I, who began his career in the jewellery industry at a young age, later devoted his time to supporting artists and jewellers by serving the Association of Arts and Craftsmanship in Pforzheim, Germany.
With a rich history in watchmaking, introducing jewellery into the family business was not a straightforward process, but it was eventually made possible through the persistent efforts of young Caroline Scheufele. Her first-ever design was a clown pendant featuring diamonds and precious stones that could be moved in its centre, designed to help convince her father to produce jewellery. His daughter's gesture touched Caroline's father who secretly commissioned the pendant to be made in their workshops as a surprise Christmas gift. The "Happy Clown" pendant, which was produced in the workshop, generated interest among some of Chopard's clients, leading to the start of the jewellery activity at the Maison. The Happy Clown was the first piece of Chopard jewellery and is still a design cherished and sold today, which has also led to further ‘Happy’ collections boasting a floating diamond aesthetic. Chopard has continued under the impetus of the Scheufele family to the present day, continuing to bring you beautiful pieces that are crafted to treasure.

As the designer Caroline Scheufele’s mother explained, "Diamonds are happier when they are free!”. The collection features diamonds in a free motion encapsulated by two sapphire crystals, creating dancing diamonds at first glance, capturing your attention as the beautiful gemstones move and twirl in a ballet-style dance when worn. Ice Cube Collection
