It’s hard to believe the official partnership between TAG Heuer and Porsche only began in 2021. For half a decade, the pair of powerhouses have shared not only a mission for precision, style and performance but a product name with the Porsche Carrera car and the TAG Heuer Carrera watch. But alas, the duo finally combined forces and ever since, luxury watch enthusiasts have been inundated with several special edition TAG Heuer X Porsche designs. Now joining the two previous TAG Heuer Carrera Porsche watches and the TAG Heuer Connected Calibre E4 Porsche Edition smartwatch is a fourth instalment to the collection, the TAG Heuer Carrera X Porsche Orange Racing watch.
The Case
Maintaining the same sleek and sporty aesthetic as the Carrera Sport Chronograph introduced in 2020, the new TAG Heuer Carrera X Porsche Orange Racing watch adds a new colourway to its case and dial. The entirety of the 44mm stainless steel case is covered in a black DLC coating including the curved lugs, knurled crown and piston chronograph pushers. The crown is screw down and reveals a hint of orange lacquer on its seal while the bezel sits firmly on top, engineered from black ceramic, fixed and adorned in a tachymeter scale. The scale is printed in white while the Porsche logo placed at the 1 o’clock position is finished in orange. The TAG Heuer Carrera X Porsche Orange Racing watch’s case also boasts scratch resistant sapphire crystal glass on both the front and back, the front end treated with an anti-reflective coating for easy legibility of the dial. The case back is screw down and engraved with “TAG Heuer Special Edition” and the design’s water resistant rating of 100 metres.
The Dial
The dial of the new TAG Heuer Carrera X Porsche Orange Racing watch also conforms to its new black and orange colour palette. The main display is black with vertically brushed finishing to evoke the tyre marks left behind on a racetrack’s asphalt while the borders of the subsidiary dials and chronograph hands are painted in bright orange to replicate the heat sparks left behind by the cars. The three subsidiary dials are adorned in their own finishing to stand out from the brushed surface of the main dial: the small seconds at 6 o’clock has a handsome black grained boundary while the 30 minutes and 12 hour totalisers at 3 and 9 o’clock are snailed. The TAG Heuer Carrera X Porsche Orange Racing watch’s dial ensures effortless readability with large Arabic numerals done in the same typeface used on Porsche car dashboards and two large sword-shaped hour and minute hands. All of this hardware is generously adorned in glow in the dark Superluminova. The dial also features a date window cleverly integrated into the small seconds dial at 6 o’clock and a raised TAG Heuer logo directly opposite at 12 o’clock.
The Movement
Powering the TAG Heuer Carrera X Porsche Orange Racing watch is the Calibre 02 automatic winding movement. It’s the same in-house movement used within previous Carrera Chronographs of this size but it has been nicely modified to include a black coated rotor cleverly moulded into the shape a Porsche steering wheel. The rotor is also engraved with orange lettering for the TAG Heuer and Porsche logos. Performance wise, the Calibre 02 movement has a column wheel and vertical clutch mechanism, an 80 hour power reserve, 33 jewels and a frequency of 28,800vph.
The Strap
Completing its sporty black and orange aesthetic, the TAG Heuer Carrera X Porsche Orange Racing watch is finished with a black soft-touch calfskin leather strap with contrasting orange stitching and orange lining. The style of the stitching is modelled after a Porsche car’s upholstery. The leather secures to the wrist by a black DLC coated stainless steel folding clasp with double safety push buttons.

The TAG Heuer Carrera X Porsche Orange Racing watch retails at £5,850 and is a special edition. This means it is not limited to a set number of pieces but will only be in production for a limited amount of time.
