Hands-on with the Bremont WR-45 Williams Limited Edition Watch

Jewellery & Watch News

To commemorate the third year of their partnership with British F1 team Williams Racing, Bremont has launched a new limited edition timepiece inspired by motorsport and the 2023 FW-45 car. Drawing upon their shared British heritage and commitment to precision engineering, Bremont and Williams Racing proudly introduce the Bremont WR-45 Williams Chronograph watch just in time for the 77th Formula 1 Aramco British Grand Prix, held at Silverstone, the iconic home of British racing.

The partnership between Bremont and Williams Racing was initially announced in 2021 when Bremont became the Official Timing and Watch Partner for the Williams Formula One motor racing team. A year later, their first joint creation, the Bremont WR-22 Chronograph and special Bremont Williams Racing box set, was unveiled. Now, this dynamic duo returns to celebrate the numerous podium victories of Williams throughout the years with an exclusive 244-piece Bremont WR-45 watch, adorned almost entirely in black.

The technological crossover between Formula 1 and precision watchmaking is substantial and the compelling collaboration between Bremont and Williams Racing has really taken the brand’s Motorsport Collection to a new level. It’s wonderful to see so much energy and interest in the sport today and we’re delighted to be part of its rich history,” Bremont CEO Davide Cerrato remarks.

Williams Team Principal James Vowles, adds, “The synergies between motor racing and high-end watchmaking are clear, not least of all in terms of the crossover in manufacturing skills and similarities in complex CNC machining to very high tolerances. With our British heritage it couldn’t be more fitting for Williams Racing to be partnering with Bremont, a brand based very close to Grove, and we’re excited to be releasing this latest addition to the range, named in tribute to the 2023 FW-45 car. Both firms are experts in precision engineering and bringing these two worlds together in this way is a really lovely celebration of British manufacturing at its best.”

The new Bremont WR-45 Williams Limited Edition watch shares a lot of specification with the Bremont WR-22 watch launched last year, however for a more contemporary and arguably stealthy look, the bare steel case is now entirely covered in a black DLC coating, a colour that then extends onto the dial. The Trip-Tick case measures to 43mm wide and 16mm tall and presents the new black DLC coating across the entire case including the case middle, screw in crown, chronograph pushers, bezel and pin buckle. The bi-directional rotating bezel is also black, engineered from aluminium, and presents a tachymeter scale around its circumference for measuring the speed of a vehicle over a known distance.

The dial of the Bremont WR-45 Chronograph watch is also largely monochromatic. The black metal display presents two black counters for the 30 minutes and 12 hours at 3 and 6 o’clock respectively. The small seconds at 9 o’clock stands out more dramatically in white and pairs with the 6 o’clock counter with splashes of blue, a nod to the colours for the Williams Racing livery. The applied hour markers and central hour and minute hands ensure easy legibility with blue emission Superluminova down their lengths while the central chronograph second hand is finished in a brilliant red. A blacked-out date window is also subtly integrated into 12 hours counter at 6 o’clock.

Fuelling the Bremont WR-45 Williams watch is the automatic winding Calibre BE-53AV. It promises 27 jewels, a Glucydur balance wheel, Anachron balance spring and Nivaflex mainspring. We’re also assured of a 56 hour power reserve and a frequency of 28,800vph. Turning the limited edition over allows you to admire the movement through the watch’s case back including the custom decorated rotor inspired by a Williams Racing car rim. Completing the Bremont WR-45 Chronograph watch is a black Alcantara strap and a black DLC treated pin buckle.
