Jewellery & Watch News

The Garmin Fenix 6 series has quite easily become one of the year’s biggest selling smartwatches and it’s easy to see why. With a battery life extending upwards of 120 days, a new Pace Pro feature and remarkable solar powered variation for increasing battery life even further on sunny days, these high-tech wearables have overtaken all forms of competition. So, whether you are an athlete, a mountain adventurer or just a busy socialite requiring only the best in functionality and aesthetic, we’re here to tell you why the Garmin Fenix 6 smartwatch collection is for you.
To start things off, let’s dive into each of the different variations available within the Garmin Fenix 6 collection. First up we have three different sizes to choose from: 42mm (Fenix 6S), 47mm (Fenix 6) and 51mm (Fenix 6X). Each of these are then available with standard Corning Gorilla Glass DX or you can upgrade to higher scratch resistant sapphire crystal. You can also choose whether you want the Pro or Base model of each size, with the Pro including Wi-Fi connectivity, Maps, Music and Golf Maps. To top things off, there is one final variation that for us stands out from the rest, the Garmin Fenix 6X Pro Solar – a model that comes with Wi-Fi connectivity, Maps, Music and Golf Maps as standard and instead of sapphire crystal you get remarkable solar powered “Power Glass”.
The Garmin Fenix 6X Pro Solar watch deserves an entire review of its own, so keep an eye out for that, but we will give you a brief rundown of its solar powered technology here for now. The Garmin Fenix 6X Pro Solar is the first of its kind by Garmin to feature a solar charging dial and it is something they are planning to carry out in many of their other models soon. It works by using a very thin 1mm wide strip just on the inside of the bezel and another under the display face to absorb energy from the sun and turn it into battery life. The default dial also features a sun icon with a total of 10 ‘rays’ to demonstrate the intensity level of the sun. When no rays are shown you are probably sat in the shade, but when you step out into the sunshine the dial will show you a ray for every 10% of intensity. In comparison to the non-Solar models, the Garmin Fenix 6X Pro Solar smartwatch gives an average of 3 extra days of battery life when exposed to enough sunlight.
