Arriving just in time for Valentine’s Day on the 14th of February, Fabergé have launched a special addition to their Heritage collection. The Fabergé Heritage Limited Edition Yellow Gold Locket with Teal Enamel & Carved Ruby Rose Surprise embodies all that is romantic with special guilloche enamelling, hand engraving and a radiant rose hidden inside.
Over the last few years, Fabergé have been all about colour. Within their Heritage, Essence and Treillage collections, they harnessed even more colourful gemstones and enamel and in 2020 alone, they launched a Rainbow Surprise Locket to raise funds for COVID-19 causes and shortly before that, their Colours of Love collection. The latter in particular is a wonderful expression of Fabergé’s artistry with colour and exemplifies their ‘A Life in Colour’ campaign which aims to combine exceptional craftsmanship with responsibly sourced coloured gemstones from Gemfields’ mines in Zambia and Mozambique. For this year’s romantic season, Fabergé revel in the same concept with a new celebration of ‘A Love in Colour’ and the launch of the Fabergé Heritage Limited Edition Yellow Gold Locket with Teal Enamel & Carved Ruby Rose Surprise.
As we expected, the Fabergé Heritage Limited Edition Yellow Gold Locket with Teal Enamel & Carved Ruby Rose Surprise is nothing short of extraordinary, harnessing only the best of Fabergé’s rare techniques and materials. The egg itself is crafted from 18 carat yellow gold and hand-painted with a gorgeous teal-coloured enamel. The yellow gold swirls on the exterior, a pattern familiar to the Fabergé Heritage collection, is then adorned with several white round brilliant cut diamonds.
Opening up the pendant, and the inside reveals the breathtaking 18 carat gold structure which holds the showstopping red rose surprise inside. This romantic motif is intricately hand-carved from a Gemfields Mozambican ruby and features a single white diamond at the centre. For an additional touch of colour, the rose sits on a dark green hand-painted enamel leaf. To secure the Fabergé Ruby Rose Surprise Locket around the neck, it comes with an 18 carat yellow gold chain.
Like so much of Fabergé’s jewellery, the Fabergé Heritage Limited Edition Yellow Gold Locket with Teal Enamel & Carved Ruby Rose Surprise takes inspiration from the House’s history. In 1907, Peter Carl Fabergé created the iconic Rose Treillis Imperial Egg which featured a lattice of rose-cut diamonds and roses in pink enamel as well as a famous flower studies set in rock crystal jars. It is creations like this that have motivated the design of the new Ruby Rose Surprise locket as well as several other of their modern creations.
