Jewellery & Watch News
Boasting such a rich history, grandeur reputation and an exquisite collection of timepieces, we thought it finally time to talk about Parmigiani Fleurier watches. As a Swiss manufacturer who have not only remained independent but also construct their very own in-house movements, Parmigiani Fleurier are quite effortlessly making their way to the forefront of luxury watch design.
There seems to be something almost magical about the Parmigiani watch brand and the unique history behind it. Michel Parmigiani was only young when he first fell in love with the mystery of watchmaking and made a career out of this passion. He specialised in watch restoration; a field that is believed to harness only the best and most skilled watchmakers. His outstanding skillset eventually led him onto the same path of Pierre Landolt, president of the Sandoz Family Foundation, and in 1996 the Parmigiani Fleurier brand was born.
Now with over 30 in-house movements and a prestigious collection of watches, Parmigiani Fleurier has truly made their mark within the watchmaking industry. The Parmigiani Fleurier Bugatti watch collection has become one of their most recognisable models and celebrates the long and established relationship between the watch and car manufacturers. The Parmigiani Fleurier Tonda watch collection is another bold and luxurious set of timepieces showcasing an array of skeletonised dials, diamond decorated cases and rose gold detailing made with only the most sophisticated of men and women in mind.
Let’s take a look at these Parmigiani Fleurier watches and many of their other exquisite collections in more detail…
Parmigiani Fleurier Kalpa Watches
From sporty to sophisticated, the Parmigiani Fleurier Kalpa watch collection has it all. The iconic rectangle shaped cases, otherwise known as the “tonneau”, embody the sport chic spirit of the brand while providing a comfortable and contemporary look that streamlines effortlessly against the skin. The Parmigiani Fleurier Kalpa is home to many of the brand’s greatest achievements including the Kalpa Hebdomadaire. This remarkable limited edition was the first Parmigiani Fleurier watch ever to feature a 100% in-house made movement
This year, the brand introduced the exceptional Parmigiani Fleurier Kalpagraphe Chronomètre, a tonneau-shaped integrated chronograph with another entirely in-house manufacture movement. The rare calibre features one of the most accurate chronograph complications we have ever seen with a frequency of 5 Hertz, or 36,000 vibrations per hour. Parmigiani Fleurier Kalpa collection is also home to the brand’s first range of women’s watches with the Kalpa Piccola, Kalpa Donna and Kalparisma showcasing smaller sized cases, diamond decorations and mother of pearl dials especially for the modern lady.
Parmigiani Fleurier Tonda Watches
The brand’s legendary flagship collection, the Parmigiani Fleurier Tonda is a perfect example of the creativity and technical prowess of the watchmakers that design and hand assemble every piece. Named after the Italian world for ‘round’, the Tonda watch features stunning slim profiles, dazzling gem setting and a fantastic selection of complications to choose from. The Parmigiani Fleurier Tonda 1950 collection its widely known for its originality, named after Michel Parmigiani's year of birth and showcasing exquisite complications like the 1950’s Lune and its colourful moonphase dial.
For fans of the sporty aesthetic, the Parmigiani Fleurier Tonda Métrographe features a breathtakingly intricate chronograph automatic-winding famed for its precision, reliability and comfortable user experience. We love the way the large lugs of each Tonda Métrographe watch are almost integrated into a cascading bracelet for a bold, sophisticated look. Those of you who appreciate the fine mechanical craftsmanship of a Swiss made movement, you will fall headfirst for the Tonda 1950 Squelete watch which boasts a breathtaking skeletonised dial where you can see parts of the ultra-thin PF707 movement hard at work.
Parmigiani Fleurier Toric Watches
The Parmigiani Fleurier Toric watch was Michel Parmigiani's very first design presented at the brand’s inauguration in 1996. It remains one of the most significant models within their collections, not only for its breathtaking aesthetics but for its talent in displaying certain complications and functions in such an elegant way. The Parmigiani Fleurier Toric watches are instantly recognisable for their sleek cases detailed with alternating gadroons and knurling inspired by the bases of Greek column. The talents of the designers is showcased in each detail and knurl produced by hand.
Timeless and graceful, the Parmigiani Fleurier Toric watch is available in a variety of designs. We particularly love the Toric Hemispheres Retrograde which manages to fit an incredible selection of complications into one dial. The self-winding calibre PF317 shows off two time zone indicators which can be independently adjusted to the nearest minute, a day and night display, an instant retrograde calendar and an impressive power reserve of 50 hours. The Parmigiani Fleurier Toric Chronomètre is a must for those looking for perfection in performance with a remarkable COSC certified automatic movement housed within a contemporary interpretation of the first watch designed by Michel Parmigiani.
Parmigiani Fleurier Bugatti Watches
