Exploring Bremont Watches

Jewellery & Watch News

Bremont have always a favourite with us at C W Sellors, not only because they are one of just a few high quality British watch manufacturers doing their part for the industry but because they have an incredible aptitude for releasing one innovative design after another. Their strong links to aviation have never wavered and we are always more than impressed when a new Bremont watch is bought onto the market.

The story of how Bremont Watches came to be is both a sad and heart-warming one. Founded by brothers Nick and Giles English, Bremont was born when ambition rose from tragedy. In 1995, Nick and his father Euan were up in the air practicing formation for an air show when they found themselves spiralling out of control and crashing into the ground.  Sadly, Euan English was killed and Nick, only 23 years old at the time, broke over 30 bones and was at risk of losing his life. Miraculously, only six months later, Nick was back in the air with a new vigour for life and aviation. It was from then on that the brothers decided to develop their family’s love for engineering into something extraordinary.

The idea behind the name ‘Bremont’ also has an interesting story and one much more fortunate than the former. During the 1990's, Nick and Giles were flying together across France when they were forced to carry out an emergency landing. Stuck in the middle of nowhere, the brothers began to panic until they were unexpectedly taken in by a humble farmer. The man allowed them to stay in his home while they sent for help and let them keep their broken down aircraft in his barn. The farmer’s generosity was not forgotten. His name was Antoine Bremont.

Today we will be breaking down all the latest Bremont watch collections to help you find the perfect model for you. From Bremont AirCo watches to Boeing, Jaguar and Supermarine, there really is a Bremont watch for everyone.

Bremont AIRCO Watches

The Bremont AIRCO watch collection is named after the Aircraft Manufacturing Company Limited, one of the first manufacturers of British military aircrafts. For as long as it was founded, Bremont has had strong associations with the world of aviation while the passion and expertise of the brothers and their expertise for beautifully engineered machines has become the inspiration for many of their designs.

Bremont AIRCO watches are available in a variety of three handed designs and constructed using the famous Bremont technical three piece Trip-Tick cases which are made in the brand’s facilities in the UK. These incredible, highly scratch resistant cases house beautifully finished chronometer movements that provide hour, minute, seconds and date on a variety of different coloured metal dials.

Bremont Armed Forces Watches

The Bremont Armed Forces watch collection is a fairly new release from the brand, only having been revealed at the beginning of this year. There are currently three Bremont Armed Forces watches to choose from: Arrow, Broadsword and Argonaut, each inspired by the original ‘Dirty Dozen’ which was a series of timepieces made for the British Army during World War II.

Bremont Boeing Watches

The Bremont Boeing watch collection has been designed in partnership with Boeing themselves, one of the largest plane manufacturers responsible for designing bombers and seaplanes in both World War I and World War II. Together, both Bremont and Boeing have combined their rich history and technical expertise to make a range of high quality watches durable enough to endure the pressures of any aviation adventure.

Once again, Bremont have provided a wide range of different Boeing models to suit every type of wearer. The Bremont Boeing 247 is inspired by the 247 airliner from the 1930s and boasts Bremont's unique chronograph movement with two sub-dials on each side of the dial to reflect the aircraft's radial engines. For world travellers, the Bremont Model 1 Ti-GMT watch is equipped with a handy second time zone function and comes presented in a case crafted from Boeing aviation-grade Ti 6-4 Titanium, an incredibly strong material used in the airframes and engine components of aircrafts.

Bremont Jaguar Watches

The Bremont Jaguar watch collection see’s the brand taking a step away from the world of aviation and collaborating with one of Britain’s most extraordinary car manufacturers. By uniting both their technical and design expertise, Bremont and Jaguar have managed to engineer some of the most prolific British timepieces on the market with gauge dial designs, tachometer needle hands, Dunlop racing tyre inspired crowns and alloy spoked steering wheel automatic winding rotors.

The partnership between Bremont and Jaguar first started with the creation of six Bremont chronometers inspired by the E-type Jaguar racing cars. Since then, the response from Bremont fans has been overwhelming and the collection has continued to grow. For 2019, the British manufacturers have released a Bremont Jaguar D-Type watch limited to 300 pieces. This breathtaking model has been designed alongside the production of 25 new D-type Jaguar cars.

Bremont Martin Baker watches

The Bremont Martin Baker watch collection is possibly one of the British watch manufacturers most distinguished, designed in partnership with the Martin Baker British Aviation Company, a company responsible for supplying 70% of the worlds Air Forces with fighter ejection seat technology. Rather than just sticking a logo on the front of the dial, the Bremont MB watches have undergone the same extensive testing schedule that Martin Baker ejection seats go through. From shock to vibration, temperature and salt fog tests, these breathtaking timepieces ensure complete durability and resilience.

As well as boasting the same levels of durability as an ejection seat, Bremont Martin Baker watches are beautifully detailed with several unique accents to mark the partnership. From distinctive knurled effect aluminium barrels inspired by the components on the ejection seats to a quirky yellow and black detailed seconds hand that directly refers to an ejection seat pull handle, Bremont Martin Baker watches make a striking statement from the wrist. This year, Bremont and Martin Baker have also celebrated the 10 year anniversary of their partnership and with it they have released a limited edition Bremont Martin Baker MBIII 10 Year Anniversary watch.

Bremont Solo Watches

The Bremont Solo watch collection is inspired by classic pilot watches from the 1940’s and provides a simple yet sophisticated finish for fans of classic looking mechanical watches. All Bremont Solo watches embrace chronometer certified movements and many are crafted using the brand’s patented Trip-Tick material, which is hardened in the UK to over 2,000Hv on the Vickers scale, a result seven times harder than typical watch grade steel.

The Bremont Solo Ladies watch collection was also the first range of women’s watches released from the brand. It became quickly apparent to Bremont that mechanical watches were not short of female admirers and so they began combining their technical prowess into a sleeker, more size appropriate design for women. There are currently two key models within the Bremont Solo Ladies collection: the Bremont Solo AJ which celebrates the life of Amy Johnson, a military pilot who flew her DH-60 Gypsy Moth from England to Australia in 1930 and the Bremont Solo LC which honours Lettice Curtis who flew military combat aircrafts with the Air Transport Auxiliary and became the first female qualified to fly a four engine bomber.

Bremont Supermarine Watches

The Bremont Supermarine watch collection is another range of timepieces that see’s the brand taking a step away from their accustomed home of aviation. The Supermarine watches were designed by Bremont founders Nick and Giles English to be an ‘amphibious’ watch that could be used both in an aeroplane and as an effective piece of diving equipment.

The first diving watch Bremont ever produced was the 43mm Supermarine 500 which was introduced back in 2009. Now with ten more years of experience under their belt, Bremont have managed to improve an already immaculate design with the release of three new Bremont Supemarine S2000 watches. Engineered to withstand further depths with a water resistance of 2,000 metres, this S2000 watch is the deepest diving watch to ever be released by the brand.

Bremont U2 and U22 Watches

Last but certainly not least is the Bremont U2 and U22 watches. Inspired by the elite U2 spy plane squadron, Bremont U2 watches are designed and engineered to lie firmly within the military, boasting advanced technology that is used by the elite Spy Plane Squadron based in Beale, California. These pilots are renowned for taking their aircrafts up to 80,00 feet on reconnaissance mission that can last up to 12 hours. To ensure each Bremont U2 watch can survive, they have been tested out on missions at 100,000 feet and in the laboratory at -50oC.

Like the Martin Baker watches, Bremont U2 and U22 watches boast the brand’s anti-shock rubberised movement mount that is designed to withstand the MB ejection seat programme and ensure completely shock resistance. The new Bremont U22 watches have also been recently developed with new bezels, barrel colours and date displays. The date in particular looks breathtaking and takes its inspiration from the view on an altimeter while the bidirectional rotating bezel can be used as both a measurement for 60 minutes and a compass for navigation weather mapping.
