Oris show no signs of slowing down when it comes to their dedication to save and protect our oceans. At this year’s Baselworld, Oris revealed their new ‘Oceans Project’, a campaign which includes a series of watches that are designed to strength both the brand and their customer’s commitment to oceanic health. Alongside the campaign came the launch of two timepieces with ocean conservation themes: the Oris Great Barrier Reef Limited Edition III and the Oris Clean Ocean Limited Edition. Let’s start with the Oris Aquis Great Barrier Reef Limited Edition III watch. This stunning Aquis date model is the third of its kind, with three previous Great Barrier Reef models preceding it. Each one has been designed in collaboration with the Australian Marine Conservation Society to help protect and preserve the precious Great Barrier Reef. With every sale of one of the 2,000 Oris Great Barrier Reef Limited Edition III watches being released, Oris will make a donation to the charity’s vital work. Hidden within the case and behind a beautiful engraved case back decorated with an image of the Great Barrier Reef, is the Oris 743 automatic winding movement which powers centre hands for hour and minutes, a subsidiary seconds dial, an internal date ring and a power reserve of 38 hour. Moving on to the Oris Aquis Clean Ocean Limited Edition, the second model of the set to be released at Baselworld. This spectacular divers watch has been released alongside the brand's Go Your Own Way movement which strives to bring change for the better by encouraging us all to behave in a more ecologically friendly way. With every sale of each 2,000 limited edition piece, Oris will also be donating to the Pacific Garbage Screening organisation which strives to develop a platform that collects plastic and other rubbish that flows from our rivers into the ocean. Similar to the Great Barrier Reef mentioned above, the Oris Aquis Clean Up Limited Edition boasts a gradient petrol blue dial with Superluminova hands and a dark blue ceramic minutes scale.
Coming in slightly smaller, the Oris Aquis Clean Ocean Limited Edition watch measures to 39.5mm in size and comes presented in stainless steel with domed sapphire crystal glass with anti-reflective treatment and a screw in security crown assisting in its 300 mere water resistance. The limited edition Oris watch for men not only speaks an important message but becomes an essential piece of diving equipment with the Oris 733 automatic winding movement hidden within its core. The Swiss made calibre provides centre hands for hour, minute and seconds, a date window at 6 o clock and a power reserve of 38 hours. Last but certainly not least, the Oris Blue Whale Limited Edition is their newest addition to the brand’s ‘Ocean’s Project’ which has been designed to help raise awareness of the critical endangerment of the majestic blue whale. There are currently only around 10,000 blue whales remaining on the planet and with the help of the Whale and Dolphin Conservation society, Oris is donating a portion of the sales for every 200 piece Oris Save The Ocean Trilogy Of Watches Set sold to their projects. The Oris Blue Whale Limited Edition is the very first watch by Oris in the Aquis range to carry a 3, 6 and 9 chronograph configuration, making the piece both a collectors item and an important message for the cause.
The Oris Blue Whale Limited Edition watch is the largest in the set boasting a 45.5mm stainless steel case while also having the most impressive water resistance of 500 metres. It is also the only limited edition with chronograph function thanks to the Oris 771 automatic movement which provides hour, minute, chronograph seconds, 12 hour and 30 minutes counter, continuous seconds, date function and a power reserve of 48 hours.
