Doxa SUB 200 T.GRAPH Limited Edition Watch Review

Jewellery & Watch News

Bold in its design and functionality, the Doxa Sub 200 T.GRAPH Limited Edition watch tributes the original Doxa Sub watch released in 1969 which became a reference in the field of the most emblematic diving watches in watchmaking history. It not only became the first general public divers watch released with a helium release valve, but it bought brightly coloured dials to the forefront of diving watch design.

Designed as a modern reinterpretation of the iconic Sub 200 model, the Doxa Sub 200 T.GRAPH Limited Edition watch continues to ensure dive safety of only the highest quality. During a dive, it is essential to know exactly how much oxygen and time you have left underwater before requiring a decompression stop on the way back to the surface. Rather than just fitting their Doxa Sub 200 watches with a standard unidirectional bezel, Doxa goes one step further and includes a US Navy’s no-decompression limit table to its outskirts. The dual indication of dive time in minutes and depth in meters work together to reliably calculate and monitor dive times for the safety of its wearer.

The Doxa Sub 200 T.GRAPH Limited Edition watch features a powerful 43mm stainless steel case with a water resistant rating of 200 metres alongside scratch resistant sapphire crystal glass. This type of glass is known for being incredibly scratch resistant and comes treated with an anti-reflective coating for optimal legibility of the dial beneath it. The dial itself is instantly recognisable and has become its own icon for the Doxa brand. The bold orange colour choice was originally conceived when the original Sub 200 watch was designed. It was quickly decided that black dials were no longer the optimal choice for diving watches and orange became the most noticeable under dark waves.

The orange dial of the Doxa Sub 200 T.GRAPH Limited Edition watch is decorated with black painted indexes and black painted baton-type hands, both coated with white luminescent material guaranteeing improved legibility in low lighting. The luminescent bacterial used is Superluminova in a beige tone called ‘Light Old Radium’ which gives a subtle vintage finish to the otherwise contemporary dial. The dial is also fitted with two white contrasting sub dials for continuous seconds and 30 minute counter to go alongside the central chronograph seconds hand, hour and minute hands and date window at 6 o clock.

Each of the functions found on the Doxa Sub 200 T.GRAPH Limited Edition watch are powered by the 7734 Valjoux manual winding movement. You would be quickly forgiven if you had never heard of this Swiss made calibre before since it dates back almost 30 years and has been carefully preserved by the Swiss family, Jenny, who took over the ownership of the Doxa brand two decades ago. Now, the calibre has been completely revised to provide unbeatable precision, a frequency of 18’000 vph and a power reserve of 45 hours.

One of our favourite features of the Doxa Sub 200 T.GRAPH Limited Edition watch is its stunning ‘beads of rice’ style bracelet, a vintage strap that instantly transports us back to the 60’s. The stainless steel bracelet is also complimented by a deployment clasp with wet suit extension that has been engraved with the Doxa fish logo. You can also find another beautiful engraving on the case back of the timepiece decorated with the image of a sailboat alongside its limited edition number out of 300 pieces.

The Doxa Sub 200 T.GRAPH watch is available to order today at C W Sellors, but as a limited edition piece we don’t expect it to hang around for too long. You can order your own at a retail price of £4,690 and find more information about it here.
