Whitby Jet For Mother’s Day
It seems only fair to gift a rare gem to a mother who is equally as special and unique. Whitby jet has an unrivalled mirror-like shine that naturally accentuates the stone’s intense rich black colour. More examples of our work with Whitby Jet can be found in our Hallmark collection. The stone is rare and is sourced from the North Yorkshire Coast of England, where dramatic, towering cliffs of shale meet with the robust, unforgiving winds and elements of the coast. It is here that the fossil-rich cliffside offers an ancient delight - the captivating Whitby Jet stone. The material comprising fossilised remains of Araucaria Araucana (the Monkey Puzzle tree) and possibly other tree types and plant matter, has been compressed so heavily over 180 and 200 million years, that its depth has never been found to measure over 50mm! It is for this reason that our skilled craftsmen can utilise its stable nature when being worked.

The design stars our famous Whitby Jet stone, shaped into the profile of a four leaf clover.
