Opting for matte black ceramic and bold blue accents, the new Bell & Ross BR 03-92 A522 Alpine F1 Limited Edition marks the latest collaborative release between the Swiss watch manufacturer and Formula 1 racing team. It is limited to just 999 pieces and is available to order from C W Sellors today…
During the autumn of 2021, Luca De Meo, the CEO of Renault, announced that the Renault F1 team was being branded to the Alpina F1 team. Still using the same team and facilities as before, the racing squad also continued its partnership with Bell & Ross who had previously launched a series of stunning sports watches inspired by the yellow livery of its cars and drivers. As part of the rebranding, the Alpina Formula 1 team also elected its own new attire, one of blue, and so of course the Swiss watch brand had to mark the new era with its own range of blue-accented watches. The Bell & Ross Alpine collection began with a trio of stainless steel designs, the BR V3-94 A521, BR 03-94 A521 and BR-X1 A521. Now, almost exactly a year later, we treated to our fourth rendition, this one with a contrasting matte black ceramic case.
Considerably lighter and more scratch resistant than its stainless steel predecessors, the new Bell & Ross BR 03-92 A522 Alpine F1 Limited Edition watch elects a matte black ceramic case. It measures to 42mm by 42mm in diameter in its typical square-shaped profile and elects the four screws in each corner, a round fixed bezel and scratch resistant sapphire crystal glass above. There’s also a screw in crown and solid ceramic case back for a water resistant rating of 100 metres. Completing the exterior is a perforated black rubber strap with a black PVD steel pin buckle.
The dial of the Bell & Ross BR 03-92 A522 Alpine F1 watch continues its new black and blue colourway with a matte black backdrop, white Arabic numerals and hands and bright blue accents. The sporty shade of Alpine blue is placed on the inner flange and on the seconds hand, the latter also nicely electing an A-shaped counterweight in honour of the Alpina F1 racing team. The numerals and baton hands for the hours and minutes are filled with glow in the dark Superluminova and a square-shaped date window is positioned at 6 o’clock.
Fuelling the hours, minutes, seconds and date complication on the Bell & Ross BR 03-92 A522 Alpine F1 watch is the BR-CAL.302 automatic winding movement based on the Sellita SW300-1. It’s a 25 jewelled movement with a 42 hour power reserve and a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour.
