Jewellery & Watch News

The luxury watch industry has been home to many trends over the years. The early 2010’s saw a large revival of vintage-inspired watches, 2013 saw a whole lot of skeleton pieces and more recently, green-dialled watches have become a must-have for collectors. Now, for 2021, Bell & Ross seem to be starting a trend of their own, and one we certainly can see working. Combining the coveted material of bronze with an unmissable and rarely seen cherry-red dial, the Bell & Ross BR 03-92 Diver Red Bronze watch proves once again the pioneering spirit of the Swiss watch manufacturer.
Introduced in 2017, the Bell & Ross BR 03-92 Diver has arguably become one of the brand’s most distinctive and popular underwater instruments. It’s solid and refined aesthetic is characterised almost entirely by its square-shaped case and luminous rounded indexes, two features that ensure no Bell & Ross Diver’s watch could get lost amongst other variations on the theme. The new Bell & Ross BR 03-92 Diver Red Bronze iteration stands out almost immediately for these characteristics and of course for its CuSn8 bronze case and red lacquered dial. After releasing a black dialled version of their BR 03-92 Diver in 2018, a green version in 2019 and a blue one in 2020, it appears the brand are completing its shade card with their latest release.
Bronze is not a new material for the industry, but it’s one that has certainly gained momentum over the last few years. The case and bezel of the Bell & Ross BR 03-92 Diver Red Bronze watch are engineered from satin-polished CuSn8 bronze, an alloy that is 92% of copper and 8% tin. The material is perfectly suited to a divers watch for both its corrosion resistance and its own links to diving history since bronze was, and still is, widely used in the construction of deep-sea helmets and naval construction. On the wrist, bronze delivers a delightful attribute that is completely unique to any other watch material. When bronze reacts to oxygen in the air and moisture from the skin, it develops a one-of-a-kind patina, almost like a visual chronical of the wearer’s own life. Ultimately, 999-piece limited edition Bell & Ross BR 03-92 Diver Red Bronze watch will become completely bespoke to its wearer.
The 42mm bronze case and bezel is paired with an adonised red aluminium ring detailed with a 60 minute scale and luminous marker at 12 o’clock. Alongside its unidirectional rotating capability, the bezel becomes an essential tool for divers requiring an accurate tool for measuring elapsed dive times. The Bell & Ross BR 03-92 Diver Red Bronze watch is also equipped with a screw down crown with crown guard, sapphire crystal glass with anti-reflective coating and a screw down stainless steel case back water resistant to 300 metres.
At the centre, the daring red lacquered dial is a sight to behold. Its mouth-watering cherry red colourway is punching, yet not overly bright and alongside Superluminova applique indices and Superluminova gilded metal skeletonised hands delivers an unmissable aesthetic deserving of any dark, underwater adventure. The shade of red used on the dial juxtaposes just slightly to the red on the anodised bezel which then contrasts even further to the reddish brown leather strap. These three shades, along with the warmth of the bronze case and rose gold indexes, work in perfect harmony. For when you want to take Bell & Ross BR 03-92 Diver Red Bronze diving, the matte brown leather strap with beige stitching can be replaced with a waterproof black rubber strap.
Housed within the Bell & Ross BR 03-92 Diver Red Bronze watch is the BR-CAL.302 automatic winding movement. Based on the Sellita SW 300-1 movement, it comprises of 25 jewels, a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, a 38 hour power reserve, date complication and central hands for hours, minutes and seconds. The movement is kept protected behind a closed case back handsomely engraved with the image of a deep sea diver’s helmet.
Limited to only 999 pieces, the Bell & Ross BR 03-92 Diver Red Bronze watch retails at £3,800 and is available to order on the Jura Watches website today.
