Jewellery & Watch News
More than just your average pilots watch, the new BALL Roadmaster Pilot GMT Limited Edition delivers two ingenious timekeeping functions perfect for the modern-day globetrotter. The two quick set buttons on the left hand side of the lightweight titanium case allow you to jump the hour hand to the desired position while the screwable crown offers effortless amendment of the date. Complete with a virtually scratchproof ceramic bezel, blinding micro gas tubes and a chronometer certified automatic-winding movement, BALL Watch Company once again demonstrates their prowess for excellence.
Gentleman who travel the world with their favourite luxury timepiece can already appreciate the frustration of having to change the time on their watch every time they land on a new continent, but with the new trio of BALL Roadmaster Pilot GMT watches, this process is almost entirely eliminated. Rather than using the crown, the new patented quick-set push buttons on the left hand side allow you to jump the local 12 hour hand in one-hour increments without having to stop the rest of the functions. The titanium button at 10 o’clock effortlessly jumps the local time forward while the button at 8 o’clock jumps it backwards. The triangular-tipped GMT hand remains entirely unchanged, so you always know what time it is back home. Thanks to a secure screw lock, the patented quick set push bottoms are also safeguarded against any accidental manipulation.
Similarly, changing the date on the BALL Roadmaster Pilot GMT watches couldn’t be easier. Like most watches you can extend the traditional crown at 3 o’clock, but instead of having to circle the entirety of the dial with the local 12-hour hand to change the date, the date advances entirely on its own. If you pull the crown out once more, you can control all three central hands with the date automatically furthering when the 12-hour hand is moved pass midnight – something also done when using the quick-set push buttons. This means you shouldn’t need to adjust the date at all using the crown unless you’re in a month with less than 31 days or when the local 12-hour hand is moved backwards.
Delivering more than just exceptional functionality, the trio of BALL Roadmaster Pilot GMT watches are exceptionally handsome in aesthetic and provide incredible robustness against even the harshest of conditions. The 40mm titanium case and matching tapered titanium and stainless steel bracelet feels incredibly lightweight on the wrist weighing to only 160 grams while the bidirectional rotating bezel has been purposely engineered with a black and red ceramic insert for a virtually scratchproof finish. The bezel features 24 hour markings around its edge for tracking a third time zone while the black and red motif signifies daytime and night-time hours.
Water resistant to 300 metres and limited to 1,000 pieces each, the BALL Roadmaster Pilot GMT watch is available in a choice of three dial designs: white, blue and black. Each variant features the brand’s iconic tritium gas technology, an innovation unmatched and entirely unique to the BALL Watch Company. The bright 27 micro gas tubes found on the BALL Roadmaster Pilot GMT watches allows for night reading capability and shines automatically without any need for recharging. The gas tubes are integrated into the local hour hand, minute hand and GMT hand and glow in harmony alongside the Superluminova coating on the ceramic bezel.
Having always strived for the best in everything they do, it is no surprise that the BALL Roadmaster Pilot GMT watches feature another COSC certified movement. The automatic winding calibre BALL RR1204-C has been validated by the Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC) to be accurate to -4 to +6 seconds per day and is paired with another extraordinary innovation, the patented BALL Amortiser anti-shock system. This technology absorbs harsh impact and protects the movement from damage. The mechanical calibre continues to impress with 21 jewels, a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour and a 42 hour power reserve.
