Tissot T-Race MotoGP Chronograph 2019 Limited Edition Watches Review

Jewellery & Watch News

Tissot has been the proud sponsor of MotoGP for the past 18 years, with the first official Tissot MotoGP watch released in 2003 and the first Tissot T-Race in 2004. Since then we have been treated almost annually to brand new motor racing inspired designs that perfectly capture both brand’s desires to be the very best at what they do. For 2019, the pair are back at it again with another stunning selection of limited edition watches including these two Tissot T-Race MotoGP 2019 Chronographs.

MotoGP is arguably one of the most spectacular racing series around with cutting edge technology, impressive design and intense competition at its core. It makes perfect sense for Tissot and MotoGP to continue their partnership with the Swiss watch manufacturer sharing these same values. The two new Tissot T-Race MotoGP Chronograph 2019 watches continue to reflect both brand's intentions to push the boundaries in all that they do while also boasting new upgrades that imitate the changing trends of the motorcycles and their technology on the racetrack.

Let’s start with the Tissot T-Race MotoGP Chronograph Automatic 2019 Limited Edition watch (T1154273705100). This gorgeous self-winding watch beautifully tributes the racing series with a striking racing tyre inspired case and transparent case back inspired by the shape of a motorcycle wheel. Limited to only 3,333 pieces and retailing at £1,040, the Tissot MotoGP Automatic watch measures to 45mm in size – making it the largest of the two – and is crafted from a 316L stainless steel case with black and rose gold PVD coating.

The bezel of the Tissot MotoGP Chronograph Automatic 2019 watch is its most iconic feature, shaped like a brake disc and fitted with scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with antireflective coating. Housed beneath the glass is a sporty looking black dial detailed with rose gold Superluminova hands and indexes and a tachymeter scale around the edge. Equipping the dial with an incredible range of function is the C01.211 automatic movement which provides central hands for hour, minute and seconds, three subsidiary dials for continuous seconds, 30-minutes and 6-hours counters, a date window at 3 o clock and a power reserve of 45 hours.

Portraying an arguably sportier aesthetic is the Tissot T-Race MotoGP Chronograph Quartz 2019 Limited Edition watch (T1154173705700). This model is limited to 4,999 pieces – quite a lot more than its automatic counterpart – but retails at a cheaper price of £595. It continues to boast a stunning motor-racing inspired aesthetic with a brake disc shaped bezel and strong looking rose gold and black PVD coated stainless steel case. Measuring to 43mm in size, the Tissot T-Race MotoGP Quartz 2019 provides a smaller profile than the automatic version but still looks incredibly striking on the wrist.

Instead of having an open case back, the Tissot T-Race MotoGP Quartz Limited Edition comes with a beautifully engraved closed case back detailed with the official MotoGP logo. On the other side, scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with antireflective coating protects a sporty black dial detailed with a large 12 numeral at the top alongside Superluminova coated hands and indexes. The ETA G10.212 Swiss quartz movement provides different chronograph functions than the MotoGP Automatic with 30 minutes and 1/10 of a second counters, a central chronograph seconds hand and ADD and SPLIT functions.

Both Tissot T-Race MotoGP Chronograph 2019 Limited Edition watches do both brands an honour by perfectly portraying their desires for precision and performance. Picking between the two isn't easy, but if you are someone who enjoys the simplicity of a quartz watch then you can find the Tissot T-Race MotoGP Chronograph Quartz 2019 Limited Edition watch here. Or, if you prefer the complexity and craftsmanship that goes into making a mechanical movement, then you can find the Tissot T-Race MotoGP Chronograph Automatic 2019 Limited Edition watch here.
