Jewellery & Watch News
As much as we love videos games, there are very few aspects we would want to bring to life (forget running from drowners from the Witcher or the O'Driscoll Boys from Red Dead!) However, for the sixth instalment of Far Cry, there is one in-game element that we do want… Spotted on the wrist of the game’s protagonist Dani Rojas is a handsome-looking Hamilton timepiece, and thanks to a collaboration between Far Cry 6 developer Ubisoft and luxury watch manufacturer Hamilton, the Hamilton Khaki Field Titanium Far Cry 6 watch is wearable in game and real life.
You don’t need to be a die-hard video game fan to have heard of or played the Far Cry series. The award-winning franchise is still as popular as ever and for its latest instalment, we follow the character of Dani Rojas in the fictional tropical paradise of Yara. As always, it’s a first person shooter and you’ll play as Rojas as she fights to free her nation from the tyrannical rule of villain Antón Castillo. As you start the game, you’ll notice the Hamilton Khaki Field Titanium Far Cry 6 watch doesn’t come free on the wrist of the protagonist, it has to be earned. To do this, you’ll have to complete your first guerrilla mission. Once you have it, the watch doesn’t just look cool, it actually improves Dani’s defences while sprinting thanks to it’s ‘keep on ticking’ function.
“Hamilton’s Khaki Field isn’t merely an accessory choice or functional asset but is truly integrated into Yara’s history, with a full backstory that connects it to the island’s deposed leader. It may be a small detail, but it adds immense authenticity to the cinematic world we’ve created.” - Omar Bouali, Ubisoft's Game Content Director
After seeing the Hamilton timepiece in game, it’s very easy to start wanting one for yourself and thankfully the real-life Hamilton Khaki Field Titanium Far Cry Limited Edition is exactly the same as you see on screen. It features a lightweight titanium case measuring to 42mm, a solid screw in crown at 3 o’clock and two straps. The first a brown leather NATO strap and the second a brown nubuck leather band. At the centre, the dial hosts a fantastic selection of Far Cry-inspired accents including a stylised 6 numeral referencing the game’s typography, a bold red seconds hand as tribute to Yara’s guerilla forces and aged Superluminova to evoke the dust and sand of the game’s desert setting.
The rest of the dial is finished in matte black with a concentric hour ring, white minutes track and an internal 24 hour scale. Powering the hours, minutes and seconds function is the H-10 automatic winding movement based on the ETA C07.611. It comes with a magnetic-resistant Nivachron balance spring, a power reserve of 80 hours and a skeletonised rotor. The latter can be spotted through the exhibition case back also promising of a 100 metre water resistance.
The Hamilton Khaki Field Titanium Far Cry watch is a limited edition of 1,983 pieces so if it’s on your Christmas list, maybe pop it in the basket sooner rather than later.
