The highly anticipated Garmin Fenix 6 is finally here and ready to order at C W Sellors. These magnificent luxury smartwatches are fully equipped with all the latest Garmin technology alongside larger screen sizes, a brand new Pace Pro feature, a highly improved battery life and a new H2 heart rate monitor that works underwater!
Garmin are no strangers to innovation with many of their GPS multisport watches already boasting incredible technology. The Garmin Fenix 6 watches continue to prove their technical prowess with all the features we already loved in the Fenix 5 alongside unique functions that we didn’t realise we needed until now. There are three core models in total: the Fenix 6, Fenix 6S and Fenix 6X. Each of these are then available in Pro, Pro Sapphire or Pro Solar.
The Garmin Fenix 6 is the middle man of the bunch and measures to 47mm in size. Meanwhile the Fenix 6S is the smallest at 42mm and the Fenix 6X coming in as the largest at 51mm. The Pro Version includes streaming music when connected to Wi-Fi, maps, music, and golf maps. The Pro Sapphire includes all this alongside a more scratch-resistant sapphire crystal screen. Finally, the Fenix 6 Pro Solar includes a solar charging unit making it the first ever solar powered watch from Garmin.
The aesthetics of each Garmin Fenix 6 watch is reminiscent to most of the other multisport watches in the Fenix collection but they do actually feel very different on the wrist. Their cases been trimmed down to sit more comfortably against the skin and yet despite a slimmer profile, there is larger screens with the Garmin Fenix 6S coming with a 1.2 inch screen and the Garmin Fenix 6X measuring to 1.4-inch - making this the biggest round display from Garmin so far.
Possibly the biggest new feature added to the Garmin Fenix 6 smartwatches is the various battery tools and improvements on battery life. The Garmin Fenix 6 Pro Solar boasts a unique type of glass which allows the battery to charge up through exposure to the sun’s energy. This means that three additional days are added to the already impressive battery life of 21 days. Each Garmin Fenix 6 watch is also equipped with new battery power modes which allow you to choose whether the remaining battery power is displayed in percentage or time.
Another new feature we are treated to is the Pace Pro. This fantastic piece of technology allows runners to track their speed and keep them informed on how fast they should be aiming to run, cycle or swim to reach their goal. The feature even takes into account hills and slopes while displaying all the information you could need on the screen.
Just as we expected, each Garmin Fenix 6 watch continues to boast all our favourite features including Garmin Pay, topographic maps, on device music storage – which we should mention has now been increased to up to 2,000 songs – smart notifications, sleep monitoring, built in GPS, pulse oximeter and many more! We still also get a wrist based heart rate monitor which has now been improved to work underwater, great news for those who like to monitor their heart rate and calorie burn while swimming!
Last but not least, golfers and skiers will also be pleased with some of the new preloaded maps that are included in the Garmin Fenix 6 smartwatches. Before, golf maps had to be downloaded manually but with each Fenix 6 watch all maps you need are already available immediately on your wrist. Alongside this, we have also been treated to new preloaded ski maps, a completely new addition for the brand but one that we are sure will be popular for those of you who love to hit the slopes.
